Rated 2 out of 5 by from You Get What You Pay For I purchased this e8450 router with the intent to future proof my home network. I have found a mixed bag of good and bad (read as misleading) things with this e8450 router. The good: odd low price works OK with what it does support attractive in appearance takes up a small footprint appears to be well built very easy to setup Nice and fast when in range No longer requirers you to setup/login to a Linksys account* The bad: low price – this should have been a dead giveaway of what is not supported. range is a bit weaker when directly compared to a lower-mid range ea7300 model router, a 2015 ea8500 blows the e8450 out of the water. No USB 3.0 port, you only get a 2.0 port – note: 3.0 came out November 2008 This e8450 router is sold as having the latest superior WiFi 6 (802.11ax) standard. The truth is it only has part of the WiFi 6 standard. In fact, it doesn't even have a full complement of the older WiFi 5 (802.11ac) that it was supposed to replace for complete backward compatibility. It was found that the e8450 was missing both the channel widths 80 & 160MHz (only supports WiFi 4's 20 & 40MHz standard of 2009). When Linksys was pressed they would not disclose any other features that they may have omited from the new WiFi 6 standard. In closing, if you are looking for a router that will get you by for a year or two then go for it. But if you want a router that you can grow into as you update all devices to WiFi 6 then look elsewhere. *You did have the option to skip this part but very few users noticed that option and felt they did not have a choice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Has problems with 5GHz I have had three different E8450 in a 5-month stretch, all from Linksys. I purchased the first unit on Jan 6, 2021, with the latest firmware. One of the Linksys level 2 technicians told me that the original version of the firmware (sometime in 2020) had problems with 5GHz. My experience shows that Linksys had not fixed the 5GHz problem by May 2021 with the updated firmware I was running. In May 2021 I gave up and Linksys accepted to give me credit for my January 2021 purchase. Aside for having spent hours on the phone with Linksys (including a painful experience with a technician-in-training), I am stunned that I had to mail back the router 3 times at my expense (a total of $30, or ~22% of my original cost). If you care about using 5GHz (the fast frequencies), I recommend you do not buy the E8450.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as advertised I bought this lovely AX wifi 6 router for $189. Was advertised that it blocked out neighboring networks, that it covered 2000 square feet, it was faster and the most up to date product. This is not true! It DOESN'T block out other networks. It DOESN'T cover 2000 square feet, won't even cover 15 feet! It's not even faster than my mobile hotspot....I'm extremely disappointed. I was also hoping to be able to set up a schedule via linksys app like I did with my last linksys router....this isn't even a feature available to use with this NEW AGE router. What a crock of bologna!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a true wifi 6 ax router. I received this router as a free sample in exchange for an honest review. If you are looking for a Wi-Fi 6 ax router this is not what you want. This router is limited and crippled by the low end hardware. The router lacks support for any AX and even AC standard on the 2.4 GHz band. It is only capable of a link speed of an N standard router max 300mbps link. The 5 GHz lacks support of 80 MHz and 160 MHz width and only gives the options of 20/40 MHz width. Calling this an AX Wi-Fi 6 router is misleading. The fastest router to laptop link speed I managed to get was 1.2gbps. I own a real Wi-Fi 6 router from another brand I usually have a link speed of 2.4gbps on the 5 GHz band. The 1.2gbps leads me to believe it is only capable the standard AC routers on the 5 GHz band. The range of this router saying it is a 2500sqft is also misleading. I again own another router with same claim and I have much higher bars in the house and speeds than this router could produce in the same locations. The USB port is only USB 2.0, which came out about 20 years ago. This day and age it should have been at least a USB 3.0 port. It does wpa3 security but as I only have one device that supports wpa3 I did not use it as there is no point to it unless all device support it. The initial setup might also be tricky for some. It has the classic old school Linksys interface. If you are not used to setting up an older Linksys systems it could take you a bit longer to do so as I did not come across any easy setup wizard. The updated firmware was pretty sold as I did not have any issue with it. While the link speeds were not as fast as my other router, it still got the job done. I did not see any drop outs or freezing in this router. In my opinion this router should be priced around $80 at best. It is a very basic router that barley supports any new standards and is using old hardware. I was quite underwhelmed and expected more honestly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ipad, Macbook cannot access WiFi of Linksys E8450 Hi! i setup ok Linksys E8450, all smartphone, tivi can access to WiFi, but ipad, macbook cannot access wifi. I checked, it's connected to wifi but not getting ip address. Although the address range is from to when i set static ip (LAN) for the device, it got internet. I have tried changing the wifi encryption method, reboot, but it doesn't seem to improve. I'm using EasyMesh (2 packs E8450). Can check it and fix it soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covers Our Whole House Excellent Wi-Fi 6 ax router for the cost. Ok price. Fast if you are close to the router. Full 2.4 GHz signal all over our house. Medium coverage for 5 GHz band. 2.4 GHz travels farther. No dead spots with the 2.4 GHz band. We have this router in the basement, so that can be the reason for the 5 GHz band not reaching everywhere. We have a small house with an upstairs and basement.
