Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't recommend. Hours of frustration I've had to restart the entire Mesh system 3 times over the course of 3 years (which was the recommended route by Linksys support). Its remarkable spotty and although it works well with an ethernet hooked directly to it, any other wi-fi enabled device will have 99% packets lost and an average speed of only 5 Mbps. The other times it will max out at a quarter of the speed I get from directly connecting to my modem. This is even when I'm within 5 feet of the router node. Highly do not recommend if you do not want terrible wi-fi connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whole House coverage Bought factory refurbished Linksys MR9000 to replace a five year old non-mesh capable Linksys router and got a DEAL on three node WHW01 mesh system for 25% of one node cost new. I live in rural area and have access to T-Mobile 5g home internet but with previous router had spotty streaming in the TV. Metal roof does not help, but three nodes and centrally located router (parent) I can connect multiple devices with two streaming TVs and never miss a beat. CAT6 cable locates the Linsys system 35 feet, around a corner and through two walls away from internet receiver/transmitter. Printer capability is even wireless and behind a metal wall. Excellent coverage throughout 2,000 sq ft. home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overpriced and overrated I bought this, not surprisingly, three years ago. Right about the time I started recommending this router to others the problems started happening. I was hoping to get maybe 5 years out of it before the miscommunication with my modem started to happen. It may or may not stay online all day, before dropping the signal and spending the next 10 minutes trying to get back up and running. Started off great, ended with the classic "Warranty Up" scenario with products sold in the US

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful management Linksys makes it impossible to manage this router locally. They continually push you to their app and online account service. Now they just killed support on a mobile browser of any kind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage We bought this to provide WiFi calling inside a large metal warehouse where phone reception was non existent. This system works great, providing excellent WiFi signal in all areas.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped Working After 3 Months I bought this over a year ago and had such difficulties with it. It worked for a little over 3 months then started acting up. Tried to get help with it but it would only work for a few days before acting up again. I would not recommend this product if you want something long term.

How many nodes can I have with the WHW0101 system?

Asked by: wvboy
Hi there. Every home is unique, so take your home’s layout into consideration when figuring out the optimal number of nodes you need for your home. Moreover, please know that the upper limit for the number of nodes that can be added is still being tested by the Linksys Engineering Team. We have tested 12 nodes in a single system. To know more, please refer to this link: https://www.linksys.com/gb/support-article/?articleNum=217439.

Will this work to replace Apple AirPort router? AirPort is connected with ethernet cable to Modem/Router Combo. WiFi speed test in room where Modem/Router is located is 613/29 Mbps. WiFi speed in room where AirPort is located is 79/29 Mbps. Thank you.

Asked by: Mtoro
Yes, the WHW0101 can replace your existing router. However, it's advisable to investigate the potential factors contributing to the slow speed of your Airport, as it could be related to your network environment.

should the whw0101 need to be conected wired all the time? can work wireless?

Asked by: Cayo
If you only have one WHW0101 and configured the node as the main node, then it has to be wired connected to your main modem for it to work. Should you like to add another velop node, then you can configure it as a child node and add the node to your existing mesh system wirelessly.

Can I use it for my cell phones internet provider

Asked by: Donkey420
Hi, Donkey420. Our Linksys WHW0101 needs a dedicated modem/gateway device with an active internet connection for it to work. You can check these links on how to properly setup the node: for iOS device: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=316842. for Android: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=217435.

Velop WHW01 user has an issue on Apple... When my Apple devices connect with WIFI, they say no internet connection. Yet, it has no issue when using Samsung cellphones to connect with WIFI. Checked with ISP, no network issue. Do you know the solution?

Asked by: ed_ay
Hi, Try to reboot the Mesh system along with your Apple devices for isolation. You can also turn ON/OFF the wifi setting of your Apple devices. Email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com so our Escalation Engineers can assist you further. Include your contact information and the link to this post for our reference.

I have had a linksys mesh for three years with no issues. Now the most distant of the units seem to have gone from blue to red and we are not getting service in parts of the house. How do I trouble shoot?

One of my extenders connects inconsistently.  Green light pulses and turns to blue and then back to steady green.

Asked by: Spook
Sorry I stopped using Linksys products. It would not stay on link and getting in touch with a customer service person took too long.

‡Maximum Performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual performance may vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, speed, range and coverage. Performance depends upon many factors, conditions and variables, including building materials and construction, volume of network traffic, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions. In order to achieve the best performance, this product must be used with compatible AC1300 wireless devices. The standard transmission rates for each node—867 Mbps (for 5 GHz radio), 400 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz)—are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used and external factors.
