How to check the MAC address of a PlayStation®3

Wireless access to a Linksys router can be filtered using the Media Access Control (MAC) Address of the wireless device, a unique hardware number that consists of 12 characters.

MAC Filtering is a security feature that can either prevent or allow specific MAC Addresses to be connected to your wireless router.  If your Linksys router is configured with this feature, you will need to enter your PlayStation®3's MAC Address into its MAC Filter table.

This article will help you on how to get the MAC Address of your PlayStation®3.  This is also applicable for PSP®go and PSP®.

Step 1:
Go to Settings and select System Settings.

Step 2:
Select System Information.

Step 3:
Take note of the MAC Address listed on your device.

Step 4:
Enter your device’s MAC Address in the MAC Filtering tab of your Linksys router.  For details on how to do this, click here.

Expanding your network

Your router has the capability to connect multiple devices in the network.  By simply connecting additional devices, you can now extend your wireless signal to accommodate the hard-to-reach areas at home and even to connect more devices (both wired and wireless) for gaming or entertainment.  Click on the links to know more about these products.
