What is the Linksys E1000 router?The Linksys E1000 lets you access the internet via a WiFi connection or through one of its four ethernet ports. You can also use the router to share resources such as computers, printers, and files. A variety of security features help to protect your data and your privacy while you are online.
What default IP address, username, and password are used to log in to the Linksys E1000’s web interface?The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. Leave the username field blank and the password is “admin”.
How do I reset the Linksys E1000 to factory defaults?There are two ways to reset your router to factory defaults. 
 
Hardware reset – Press and hold the Reset button located at the bottom panel for about 5 seconds.
Software reset – Access the web interface, go to Administration > Factory Defaults and then click the Restore All Settings button.
What is the warranty period of the Linksys E1000?

The warranty period is dependent on the country of purchase.

What is the default WiFi name (SSID) of the Linksys E1000?

The default SSID of the Linksys E1000 is Linksysxxxxx where xxxxx is the last five digits of the router’s serial number.

Does the Linksys E1000 allow VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP protocols to pass through the router?Yes.
Does the Linksys E1000 support Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) Firewall?
Yes. The Linksys E1000 supports SPI Firewall. To use firewall protection, access your router's web interface and go to Security > Firewall. Keep the default selection, Enabled. To turn OFF firewall protection, select Disabled.
How does Web Filter work?Web Filter will filter Proxy, Java, Cookies, and ActiveX applications in the network.

FIRMWARE UPDATE

How do I upgrade the firmware of the Linksys E1000?
To upgrade the Linksys E1000's firmware, follow the steps below:
 
1. Download the latest firmware of your Linksys E1000.

2. Access the router’s web interface by launching a browser and entering “192.168.1.1” in the Address bar then pressing [Enter].

3. You will be asked for your login details. Leave the username field blank and enter “admin” in the password field and then click OK.

4. Go to the Administration tab and then click the Firmware Upgrade sub-tab.

5. Select the file to upgrade by using the Browse button.

6. Click Start to Upgrade.

Do not reset or power cycle the router until the upgrade is complete.

Does the Linksys E1000 support AP (Access Point) Isolation? Yes. To use AP Isolation, access your router's web interface and go to Wireless > Advanced Wireless Settings. To use this option, select Enabled. AP Isolation is disabled by default.
Does the Linksys E1000 support WiFi Quality of Service (QoS) and Internet Access Priority QoS? Yes. 
Does the Linksys E1000 support transmission of the log information to a log server? No.
What is Diagnostics and what is it for? The Diagnostics section on the router’s web interface contains the Ping and Traceroute tools that can be used to check your network’s connectivity to the internet.
What is Port Forwarding? Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network, such as web servers, FTP servers, email servers, or other specialized internet applications. 
What is Port Triggering? Port Triggering will forward the port based on the incoming port specified. Check your software application to find out what is necessary to enter into these fields. You can set up to 10 port triggering entries.
How many network modes are supported by the Linksys E1000?It supports three network modes - 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n.
What is Wireless MAC Filter and what is it for? Wireless MAC Filter prevents or allows connectivity to the WiFi with the use of the MAC address of the WiFi device.
What is UPnP®? Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) allows Windows® to automatically configure the router for various internet applications, such as gaming and video conferencing.
Does the Linksys E1000 support IPv6? No, the Linksys E1000 doesn’t support IPv6.

How can I keep my WiFi safe from unauthorized access by other users or guests?To keep your network safe from unauthorized access by other users or guests, you need to set up the security for your Linksys router.
What should I do if I forget or lose my router login details?If you have lost or forgotten your login details, you can reset the router. But you have to reconfigure the router to be able to go online again once you perform a reset.
