Linksys N600 Pro Wi-Fi Range Extender

Stream videos and play online games without interference, thanks to transfer speeds of up to N300 Mbps + N300 Mbps*. Plus, we equipped the RE4000W with two Fast Ethernet ports so you can create reliable wired connections to desktop and laptop computers and other Internet-ready devices.

Range Extender

The RE4000W extends the wireless coverage area of up to 7,500 square feet** by repeating and redistributing the signal from the router to eliminate dead zones. It also features Crossband technology, allowing wireless bands to receive information on one band and transmit on the other to reduce dropped data packets.

The result is a stronger, more reliable Wi-Fi signal, allowing you to stay connected on your laptop or mobile device from anywhere inside--or even outside--your home.

Easy Setup

Extend your Internet access in 3 easy steps:

  1. Connect the power cable.
  2. Plug in the range extender midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi.
  3. Once a solid light appears on the range extender cover, connect to the Wi-Fi network "Linksys Extender Setup."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine but be careful with setup In service for about a month, works fine. Note about setup, though, the setup program supplied is VERY sensitive, if you inadvertently get anything wrong it locks you out. I ended up downloading the more detailed doc which had exactly what I needed to configure the unit properly. I have two different networks, one on 2.5 and one on 5.0, this unit handles both just fine. It wasn't clear (to me) from the original information but this unit comes with both a direct-to-power plug if you want to just put it in the outlet, AND with a power cord if you need to locate it somewhat away from the power outlet. I have my unit located in a very tight space so the power cord was really handy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product not worth the aggravation. Bought this range extender to improve connectivity in my home. The installation was a pain. Instructions were practically useless and they were disorganized. Instructions kept leading me into dead ends. it took several hours of trying to navigate the online procedures for installing the unit. Only to find out that the unit was not set up to work with later versions of iOS. Once the programing was completed. The unit seemed to have little or no impact on extending the range of my router. I would seem this product was a waste of money and time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough to set up! I was wanting an option to increase signal strength for streaming sports video on my main TV in the family room which is in the opposite corner of my house from the office where my modem and router are located. I tried at least 4 times on different occasions to install the RE4000W; finally, I succeeded. Then I needed several tries to find a location that was acceptable to successfully complete the installation/setup. TIP: based on my experience, I could not plug the Extender directly into an electrical outlet on an outside wall of my house either during initial setup or finial installation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So so This was my third upgrade to an extender. Works so so for me. I have a very large old house with lathe and plaster walls and my router is in the attic above the second floor. All of this works against my signal. I have never been able to just run the startup program and have it connect. Have to do a manual connect every time I purchase a new unit. Also, info says I can set up the extender with another ssid name, but I am getting ready to reset my router because I tried this and now I cannot connect to the router through Smart WiFi page. Bummer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Mac Compatible Simply put, it doesn't work with the prior version of OS X Mavericks(10.9) or the newest. Since this version of OS X has been around for exactly 1 year, it should be clear on the packaging that it isn't Mac compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No wires? No worries! Fast an easy extension I bought this wifi extender with the hopes the two (2) RJ-45 ports would replace my old slow and unreliable usb wireless solution for my upstairs PC. With no cables connecting the upstairs, this extender far exceeded my expectations. Once its synced, it never looses its connection to my router. Now, I connect the PC to one port, my HP printer to the other and both are faster and more reliably connected to the home network. PLUS, I now have a strong signal on the second floor for other devices thanks to the extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutley Phenominal! I bought two in Feb and like them so much I bought two more. My wireless coverage now extends 100+ yards outside my house. Set them up in sequence and you will have no, repeat no dead spaces in your house. The first time you set them up is trying, but once you have the steps down they are a snap.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Range Extender Doesn't Extend Much I bought the Linksys RE4000W N600 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender hoping to reach my TV which is about 35 feet from my router. The extender provided no noticeable improvement, so I disconnected it and bought a new wireless router which works great.

*Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will increase or decrease depending on wireless obstructions, operating environments and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique.
**Maximum performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specification. Actual performance can vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, range and coverage. Performance depends on many factors, conditions and variables, including distance from the access point, volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, operating system used, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions.
