 HARDWARE INFORMATION

1. What is the WUMC710?

The Linksys Wireless-AC Wi-Fi 5GHz Universal Media Connector Bridge with 4-Port Switch (WUMC710) enables consumers to connect devices such as TVs, Blu-ray DVD players and gaming consoles to stream video content wirelessly.  The WUMC710 is designed to work best with Wireless-AC routers such as the EA6500, EA6300, and EA6700.

2. What are the power specifications of the WUMC710?

The WUMC710 utilizes 12 Volts (V) and 1.5 Amperes (A).

3. What LEDs does the Wireless Media Connector Bridge have?

 
  • The Wireless LED (Blue) – The Wireless LED lights up when a wireless connection has been established.
  • The Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ LED (Blue/Amber) – The LED is located underneath the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button.
  •  The Ethernet LED (Blue) – The Ethernet LED lights up when there is a wired connection established.
  • The Power LED (Blue) – The Power LED lights up when the Media Connector Bridge is ON.


 4. How many ports does the WUMC710 have?

There are four Gigabit ports that allow optimum speed capacity for devices.

5. What buttons are found on the Media Connector Bridge?

The buttons found on the WUMC710 are the WPS button and the Reset button.

6. What cabling type can we use for the Media Connector Bridge?

The Ethernet cable type used is CAT5e.

7. How many internal antennas does the Media Connector Bridge have?

The WUMC710 has three (3) internal antennas.

WIRELESS SECURITY


1. How many security modes does the Media Connector Bridge support?

There are three (3) security modes that the WUMC710 supports. These are Wi-Fi Protected Access® Personal (WPA), Wi-Fi Protected Access®2 (WPA2) and Wired Equivalent Protocol (WEP).

2. Does the WUMC710 have Media Access Control (MAC) Address Filtering capabilities?

No.  Linksys routers give you the ability to enable MAC Address Filtering.  To know more about MAC Filtering, click

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION


1. Does the Media Connector Bridge have its own built-in DHCP server?

Yes.  However, unlike routers, the WUMC710’s DHCP server has a limited function.  It will only be used to assign IP to itself and to the computer connected to it.

2. What is the default IP address of the WUMC710?

The Media Connector Bridge has the default IP address of 10.100.1.1.

3. What is the WUMC710’s default login Username and Password?

By default, there is no username and the password is “admin”.

4. How do I change the default Device Password login to a personalized setting?

Access the WUMC710’s web-based setup page.  You can create a new password from the Administration>Management screen.

5. Can I assign a static IP to the Media Connector Bridge?

Yes.  You can go to Setup>Basic Setup screen and select Static IP for Device IP.

6. How do I configure the WUMC710 to connect to my wireless network?

 
  • Method 1:  Configuring through Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) - Click or press the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on your router.  After two minutes, press the WPS button on the Media Connector Bridge’s Wi-Fi Protected Setup screen.  For more instructions, click here.
  • Method 2:  Manual Configuration - Connect the WUMC710 directly to a computer with an Ethernet cable.  Access the Media Bridge Connector’s Web-based Setup page.  Click on the Wireless tab and go to Wireless Network Site Survey tab.  Select your network from the list and click Connect at the bottom of the page.
  • Method 3:  Configuring through the web-based setup page - Plug the WUMC710 directly into your router with an Ethernet cable. Access the router's web-based setup page and look for a DHCP Clients Table to find out the IP address that was assigned to the WUMC710. 


7. How can I upgrade the Firmware of the Wireless Media Connector?

To upgrade the Firmware, you must first download the latest version from the
WUMC710 page and save the file to your computer.  Once the firmware file is ready, access Media Connector Bridge’s web-based setup page.  Click on Administration > Firmware Upgrade tab and click on Browse to select the file to upgrade.  Click Start to Upgrade to initialize the process.

NOTE:  Do not turn OFF or RESET the device until the upgrade has been completed.


8. How do I reset the WUMC710 to factory defaults?

There are two methods to reset the WUMC710.  These are:

  1.  By pressing the reset button found on the device
     
  2.  By accessing the web-based setup page of the Media Connector Bridge and clicking on the Administration > Factory Defaults tab and clicking on Restore to Factory Defaults
