Router is not found

If the Linksys Mesh Router is not found, you may be prompted with the What type of network are you setting up screen.  To resolve this, make sure your device is powered ON and has a solid purple light.  Then, tap on Mesh WiFi Router (MR Series).  If the light is not solid purple, reset the router.  For instructions on how to reset your Linksys Mesh Router, click
here.

Another node is detected

If the app is unable to detect the node you are trying to set up, turn OFF all other nodes except the parent node then click on Find a different node and then try again.  This usually happens when other nodes within your network are lit solid purple.

NOTE:  When the app detects a router or node, that router or node’s light will turn solid purple.  If another node is lit solid purple, turn that node OFF.

If no internet connection is detected, you may be prompted about what your current setup is.  Choose the option that describes your modem type to continue.

Connect to your router’s setup WiFi

This message will appear when you are using a mobile device that is not connected to any WiFi.  You will be asked to connect to your router’s WiFi to continue with setup.

Enter your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) Settings

If a PPPoE connection is detected while checking for an internet connection, the customer will be prompted to enter their ISP credentials.  In this screen, type your Username and Password.  If you need help in providing these settings, contact your ISP.

Distance

When adding other nodes, check the distance between the parent and child nodes.  It is recommended to place the child nodes in the same room where the parent node is located during setup.  Once setup is complete, transfer the nodes to your preferred location.

Linksys Mesh Router as a child node

If you are planning to use a wired backhaul especially with a Linksys Mesh Router (with another Linksys Mesh Router as a parent node) in the network, make sure that the second Linksys Mesh Router is configured as a child node first.  For instructions, click
here.

Once the Linksys Mesh Router has been configured as a child node, the internet port on the child Linksys Mesh Router turns into a LAN port and you can plug another node or even an ethernet client.  The following scenarios will work with the Linksys Mesh Router configured as a child node.

Not supported

If a Linksys Mesh Router is not yet set up but plugged into a Linksys Mesh router configured as a parent node right out of the box, the network will not work on the Linksys Mesh Router since it will detect an IP conflict on the WAN port and will automatically change its IP address to 10.10.10.x.  In this scenario, the clients connected to the Linksys Mesh Router cannot access the main network of the parent node.

To resolve this, the Linksys Mesh Router must be set up as a child node first.  Disconnect the ethernet cable between the two devices, reset the unconfigured Linksys Mesh Router, and then add it as a child node.  To know how to reset your Mesh Router, click here.  For instructions on how to add it as a child node, click here.

Once configured as a child node, plug the ethernet cable back in to any port of the child Linksys Mesh Router to the parent or another node for a wired backhaul.

Not recommended

It is not recommended to connect a Linksys Mesh Router to an existing Velop network.  For better WiFi performance, reset the parent node and add it as a child node after your Linksys Mesh Router is set up as the parent node.  To set up your router as the parent node, click
here.

Light behavior of Linksys Mesh Router

If the Linksys Mesh Router has a solid purple light, the router is not configured.  Otherwise, the light is solid blue when configuration is complete.
