Setup and configuration of Linksys Velop for Etisalat ISP

This article will show you how to set up and configure the Linksys Velop for the Etisalat ISP.  Click on the corresponding scenarios for specific instructions:
 
Scenario 1: Customers who reach the specific screen in the Linksys app
Scenario 2: Customers who do not have a VLAN ID

 
Scenario 1: Customers who reach the specific screen in the Linksys app

If you reach the screen below after following the instructions during Velop setup, do the steps provided:

Step 1:
Log in to the web-based setup page of your Etisalat router to obtain the information you need.

 
NOTE:  Usually, you can access the Etisalat router through 192.168.1.1 (refer to the router’s label or get the information from Etisalat about the username and password).
 
a. Vlan Id – In this example, 30 is used.

NOTE:  Vlan Id varies over different connections/routers.  Thus, use whatever is seen in the Etisalat router’s page.
 
b. WAN Access Type
c. User Name
d. Password

IMPORTANT:  Make sure to write down the correct information provided by Etisalat before you configure the Velop.
 
Step 2:
After checking the necessary values from the Etisalat router, you can now set up the Velop system.  Follow the on-screen instructions and if you encounter the Connect to the Internet page, select the I have a VLAN ID w/PPPoE option.

Step 3:
Tap Add VLAN ID.

Step 4:           
Enter the ISP Settings then tap Done.

Step 5:           
Tap
 User-added image to save settings then continue with your Velop installation. 
 
IMPORTANT:  Once Velop is successfully setup, it is recommended that you turn OFF Wi-Fi on your Etisalat router and connect your wireless devices to the Velop instead.  Also, any wired devices you plugged in to the original router will now need to be plugged in to the node.
 
Scenario 2: Customers who do not have a VLAN ID 
 
Step 1:
Launch the Linksys app to start the Velop setup.
 
Step 2:
Follow the on-screen instructions and when prompted where your Internet comes from, select Single Device (Modem-Router).

Step 3:
Tap Next and continue following the on-screen instructions.

Step 4:
Once the setup detects your Internet connection from the Etisalat gateway, enter your ISP PPPoE credentials in the fields provided.  Then, tap Next.

IMPORTANT:  If you are NOT prompted for the PPPoE credentials and, instead, shows the screen below, just tap on Skip, and continue without Internet.  This will allow you to continue the setup by setting up the local settings only.  After setup, you can then log in to the Linksys app to configure the Internet Settings.

You can log in later to the Dashboard and manually configure the PPPoE settings by tapping the Menu User-added image icon and going to Advanced Settings > Internet Settings.

Step 5:
Set up and personalize the node’s Wi-Fi Network.  Begin by connecting to the default Wi-Fi Name and Password of the node located on the product label underneath the device and then follow the on-screen instructions to modify the Wi-Fi settings and successfully complete the setup.  Tap Next.

Step 6:
If you have another node to add, select Add another node.  Otherwise, tap on No, I'm done.
 
NOTE:  You can always add a node later by logging in to the Velop Dashboard.

Step 7:
Your Wi-Fi is now ready.  Tap Go To My Dashboard to check or modify the Linksys app settings.

IMPORTANT:  Once Velop is successfully setup, it is recommended that you turn OFF Wi-Fi on your Etisalat gateway and connect your wireless devices to the Velop instead. 
Also, any wired devices you plugged in to the original gateway will now need to be plugged in to the node.
