HARDWARE INFORMATION
 

1. What is AE3000?

The Compact AE3000 Wireless-N USB Network Adapter supports 802.11 A/B/G/N standards.  The Wireless-N adapter connects to your computer through its USB port.   This wireless adapter allows your computer to connect to any public hotspots such as airports, hotels and coffee shops.  To learn more about the AE3000 and its features, click here.
 

2. What is the warranty period of the AE3000?

3. What LEDs does the AE3000 have?


It has a Blue LED light.  The link LED flashes when there is network activity.


NOTE:  When the network adapter is properly connected to the computer, the LEDs indicate the status of the connection.  Otherwise, this could mean that the device is not properly connected to the port. 
 

4. What are the compatible operating systems for the AE3000?


The compatible operating systems for AE3000 are the following:

•  Windows XP SP 3
•  Windows Vista SP 1 or later
•  Windows 7

 

SECURITY SUPPORTED
 

1. Which kind of encryption is supported in WEP security mode?


The WEP encryption supported is 64-bit and 128-bit.
 

2. How many security modes does the AE3000 support?


It supports the following security modes:  Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) Personal and Enterprise, WPA2 Personal and Enterprise, and Radius.
 

TROUBLESHOOTING
 

1. What should I do if my computer doesn’t recognize the adapter?

Make sure that the adapter is properly inserted into your computer’s USB port and the adapter’s driver has been installed properly.


NOTE:  If your computer still doesn’t recognize the wireless adapter, try plugging it into a different USB port. 
 

2. What should I do if the adapter doesn’t work properly?

Unplug and re-plug the adapter into the computer’s USB port. 
 

3. What should I do if my adapter can’t communicate with the other computers linked via the Ethernet using the Infrastructure configuration?


Follow the steps below:
 

Step 1:
Turn ON your computer.

 

Step 2:
Connect your computer using the same wireless network name (SSID) and security key or passphrase as the other computers in the Infrastructure configuration.

1. Is AE3000 Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) capable?


Yes.
 

2. Will the AE3000 work with a non Wireless-N router or access point?


Yes.  However, the Wireless-N adapters will only perform at the maximum speed that is supported by the wireless router or access point.  To learn how to connect to a wireless network, click here.

3. Will the AE3000 work with Mac® computers?


No.  Most Mac computers have built-in network devices that enable users to connect to a network either wired or wirelessly. 
 

4. Can I use Windows Wireless Zero Configuration to control the adapter?


Yes. 


If you encounter issues installing the AE3000 Wireless Adapter using a Windows 8 computer, you may follow the steps below:


NOTE:  These steps may or may not work with your computer.   Contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
 

Step 1:
Go to the
Linksys Support Site, and then download the specific driver for Windows 7.


Step 2:
Extract it to a desired location.


Step 3:
Go to Device Manager and update the driver.


Step 4:
Choose Browse My Computer and select the correct file.


Step 5:
If you are done installing, restart your computer.


Step 6:
Go to Network & Sharing and click on Change Adapter Settings.


Step 7:
Highlight the AE3000 icon then select Connect To.


Step 8:
In the pop-up window, select the SSID you want to connect to.
