Reverting to IPv4 from IPv6 on a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router

By the end of 2011, Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses were replaced by the next generation Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).  Setting up your computer to prefer IPv4 over IPv6 enables your computer to function in a native IPv4 network without dual-stack.

NOTE:  Dual-stack means that devices on the network are able to run IPv4 and IPv6 in parallel.  It allows hosts to simultaneously reach IPv4 and IPv6 content, so it offers a very flexible coexistence of both.  For information about dual-stack implementation, click here.

To revert back to IPv4 from IPv6 on your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router follow the steps below.

Step 1:
Access your Linksys cloud account.  For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Click Connectivity.

Step 3:
Under Connectivity, click the Internet Settings tab.

NOTE:  IPv6 is enabled by default.

Step 4:
Click IPv6 then uncheck the Enabled box beside IPv6 – Automatic.

Step 5:
Click the  button.

You should now have successfully reverted the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router from IPv6 to IPv4.
