Overview of the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Tool

The Troubleshooting section of the LinksysSmartWiFi.com page allows you to check the devices connected to the network, monitor traffic, and diagnose connection problems.

There are three tabs in the troubleshooting section of the Linksys cloud account:

i. Status

This tab shows useful information about the connected devices and network details. The status tab has two sub-tabs:

  • Devices - this page shows the details about the devices currently connected to your router.  For each device, it shows its name, MAC address, and IPv4 address information, and how it is connected to your router.
  • Report - the report shows the details about your router and its current network settings. This information can be very helpful if you have to call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Linksys Support for help with your Internet connection or router.  Below are the buttons available for both the Devices and Report pages:

Checking the Diagnostics tab is helpful when speaking with a Linksys Technical Support representative. Below are the tools available under the Diagnostics tab.

  • Ping IPv4 - is a common tool when troubleshooting communication problems on a network. Learn more.
  • Trace route - is used to "trace the route" across an internet network from your home router to a remote location specified in the IP or URL address box. Learn more.
  • Restart - these options will allow you to power your router OFF/ON. Learn more.
  • Router diagnostic information - Sharing diagnostic information can help us to resolve network issues. To better help diagnose a problem, when you report an issue, the following information will be sent with your description of the issue:
    • Router settings including all IP addresses used
    • Information on your wireless environment, including connected devices.
    • The timeline of operation since the last reboot.

iii. Logs

This tab allows you to track your internet connection for incoming and outgoing internet traffic. You will first need to enable the Logs feature. Below are the buttons available for the Logs tab:
