HARDWARE INFORMATION
 
1.  What is the Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB?

The Linksys WRT32X AC3200 Dual-Band WiFi Gaming Router with Killer Prioritization Engine (Linksys WRT32X) uses the Killer™ Prioritization Engine to identify, prioritize, and accelerate your gaming traffic above all other devices and activities on your home Wi-Fi.

The Linksys WRT32X Dual-Band Gaming Router Designed for Xbox (Linksys WRT32XB) features the traffic-exclusive Killer Prioritization feature that automatically configures a high prioritization for your Xbox®.

2.  What are the parts of the router?

The Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB have identical hardware parts.
  • Buttons/Switch:
    • Wi-Fi Protected Setupâ„¢ (WPS) button
    • Reset button
    • Power switch
  • Antennas:
    • Four external, dipole, adjustable, and detachable antennas

    • One eSATA/USB 2.0 port

3.  What is the warranty on the router?

4.  Where can I find its serial number? 

The serial number is printed on the sticker located underneath the device. 
 
5.  What USB standards does it support? 

It has one USB 3.0 port and one eSATA/USB 2.0 port.  To learn how to set up your external storage device with the router, click

6.  What is the eSATA/USB 2.0 port on my router, and how does it work? 

The eSATA/USB 2.0 port allows you to connect a USB 2.0 device or eSATA drive to the network.  
 
NOTE:  Only one device can be connected to the port at a time.
 
7.  Can I connect a USB printer to the USB ports on the router?
 
No.  The USB ports are only for external USB or eSATA hard drives with up to 1100 mA current draw.
 
8.  What do the lights on the router indicate? 
 
They indicate the different status and activities of your router.  The Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB have identical status light behavior.  To learn more, click

SETUP AND INSTALLATION
 
1.  What are the requirements for setting up the router?

The web browsers compatible with Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB are:
  • Latest version of Google Chromeâ„¢, Mozilla Firefox®, Safari® (for Mac® or iPad®), Microsoft® Edge or Internet Explorer®
  • Latest Adobe Flash® Player
The router works with any computer.  To benefit from the automatic Killer Prioritization, you will need a computer or laptop with the following Killer Networking adapters installed:
  • Ethernet: Killer Ethernet E2500, Killer Ethernet E2400, Killer Ethernet E2200
  • Wi-Fi: Killer Wireless-AC 1535, Killer Wireless-AC 1435, Killer Wireless-AC 1525, Killer Wireless-N 1102, Killer Wireless-N 1103, Killer Wireless-N 1202
  • Latest Killer Control Center software.  To check if you have the latest Killer Control Center software version on your Killer-enabled computer, click here.
2.  How do I set it up?

You can set up the router through the setup wizard and by using a desktop or mobile browser.  To learn how, click

3.  Do I need a mobile app to set it up?
 
No.  You can use your desktop or mobile browser.

2.  What is the difference between the Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB?
 
When the Linksys WRT32XB detects an Xbox gaming device it will automatically add it to the High Priority queue for traffic prioritization.  The Linksys WRT32X will also detect it but will add it to the Normal Priority queue.  You can manually move the Xbox device into the High Priority queue as well.
 

3.  Does the Linksys WRT32XB also support Killer™ Prioritization?
 
Yes.  The Linksys WRT32XB supports Killer Prioritization to prioritize gaming on your Killer devices.

How do I access the router's web interface?

What is the Prioritization feature, and how can I enable it?
 
The Prioritization feature lets you set your devices to a Higher Priority, Normal Priority, or Lower Priority.  To learn how to enable it, click

What is the Speed Test feature, and what is it used for?

The Speed Test feature determines how much speed to give your prioritized devices.  It measures the download (from the internet) and upload (to the internet) speeds of your router.  To learn more about this feature, click here.

What is Guest Access, and how can I set it up?
 
The Guest Access feature lets you share internet access to your guests.  Your guest clients will be on the same IP network as your main network.  This way they can join your main network to play and you don’t need to provide them with the Wi-Fi password of the main Wi-Fi.  To learn how to set up the Guest Access feature, click

9.  Is Parental Controls supported on the router?

Parental Controls is not supported on the Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB.  


WI-FI CONNECTION AND SECURITY
 
1.  What Wi-Fi security modes does the router support?

It supports WPA2™-PSK.  It also has the option for None. 

2.  Which Wi-Fi standards and frequencies does it support?

It supports IEEE 802.11ac (802.11 a/b/g/n) and the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies.

3.  How do I connect a wireless device to the router's Wi-Fi? 

To connect your wireless device to the Wi-Fi, follow the steps below:
 
Step 1:
Go to the Wi-Fi settings or adapter settings of your wireless device.

Step 2:
Scan through the list of available Wi-Fi networks, and select the Wi-Fi name of your router.

Step 3:
If prompted, enter your Wi-Fi password and select Connect or Join.
 
4.  Does it support simultaneous dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) connection? 

Yes.
 
5.  What is 802.11ac, and what kinds of speed does it support? 

The 802.11ac technology works on the 5 GHz band.  The router can have a wireless speed of up to 2600 Mbps when matched with an 802.11ac adapter.
 
6.  Which Wi-Fi band should be used to achieve a speed of up to 2600 Mbps?

Your devices should be connected to the 5 GHz band to achieve a speed of up to 2600 Mbps.

7.  How many Guest Access Wi-Fi can I set up on my router? 

The router allows you to create two unique Guest Access names for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands or a combined name for both bands.
 
8. 
What is DFS, and does the router support it?
 
Yes.  The Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) is supported on the 5 GHz band of the router.  DFS is a spectrum-sharing mechanism that allows wireless LANs (WLANs) to coexist with radar systems.  It automatically selects a frequency that does not interfere with certain radar systems while operating in the 5 GHz band.
 
9. 
Which channels on the 5 GHz of the router support DFS?
 
Channels 52-64 and as well as channels 100-140 on the 5 GHz band are the DFS channels.
 
10.  
Why can't my Wi-Fi client detect the 5 GHz Wi-Fi name after I configured the router’s 5 GHz band to use a fixed channel?
 
If you have configured your router to use a fixed channel other than Auto and your device does not detect the 5 GHz Wi-Fi name, it’s possible your device does not support DFS channels.  You can contact the device manufacturer to confirm if it supports DFS.  You can also set the channel on the router to Auto or to a non-DFS channel.  Channels 52-64 and Channels 100-140 are DFS channels.
 
NOTE:  In addition, you should have a dual-band device in order to connect to the 5 GHz band.


ADVANCED CONFIGURATION
 
1.  What hard drive formats does the router support? 
 
It supports FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, and ext2/3/4 file systems.  
 
2.  Does the router allow VPN tunnels using IPSec or PPTP protocols to pass-through it? 

Yes.  
 
3.  What is the Killer Prioritization feature, and how can I use it?

4.  Is the VPN feature of the router a client or a server?
 
The VPN feature is a client and can connect to an OpenVPN server using a .ovpn file.  To learn more, click

5.  Which DDNS services does the router support?
 
A Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) is a fixed domain name for your router’s dynamic IP address that you can set up with a DDNS service provider like Dyn.com.  To learn all the DDNS service options on the router, click

6.  Does the router support open-source firmware? 

Yes.  The Linksys WRT32X and WRT32XB support open-source firmware.  With this, you can customize the router's firmware and web interface to give you ultimate control over your gaming traffic.  However, Linksys will only support the official firmware. 


TROUBLESHOOTING

1.  How do I reset the router to factory defaults? 

Follow the steps below to manually reset the router.

Step 1:
Locate the Reset button at the back of the router.  Using a pen or a paper clip, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds.
 
NOTE:  The Power light may begin to blink BEFORE the 10-second mark.  Make sure to keep holding the reset button for a full 10 seconds.

Step 2:
Wait for the Power light to become solid.

2.  How do I upgrade its firmware?
 
The router has an Auto Update feature that is enabled by default.  When the router detects new firmware, it will automatically download it and update your router.  You also have the option to turn this off and/or perform manual firmware updates.  To learn more, click

3.  My devices seem to have a slow connection.  What can I check on the router to address the situation?
 
You can perform a speed test to determine how much speed to give your prioritized devices.  To learn more, click
