Setting up your Linksys XAC1200 with the Power Modem

This article will guide you in installing the Linksys XAC1200 with the Power Modem.

1. Connect the Power Modem to the router with the provided split cable. Connect the ethernet cable to the Internet port of the router then connect the power cable to the Power port.

2. Connect the provided phone cable to the Power Modem and wall jack. Then, plug in the Power Modem to a power source.

3. Wait until the indicator light at the top of the router is solid green.

4. Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable.

If you want to set up the router using a wireless computer, you may connect it to the router’s default WiFi name (SSID). The default WiFi name and password are located on the quick start guide and also printed on the label located at the bottom of the router.

5. Open a web browser to launch the setup instructions. However, if you can’t see the instructions, enter “linksyssmartwifi.com” or “192.168.1.1” in the Address bar and press [Enter].

6. Tick the checkbox beside I have read and accepted the License Terms for using this software then click Next to proceed.

7. You will then be taken to a page where you need to enter some information from your internet service provider (ISP). Choose your region, country, and ISP from the drop-down boxes then click Next.

8. Enter your DSL account name and password in the provided fields. If you don’t know your credentials, contact your ISP. Once done, click Next.

9. In the Updates for your router window, tick the Install future router updates automatically (recommended) checkbox to allow automatic updates in the future. Click Next to proceed.

10. Enter your preferred Wireless network name (SSID) and Wireless network password in the provided fields then click Next.

Wait while your router is saving the settings.

11. You will now receive a message to reconnect to the new WiFi name. If you are using a wired computer, just continue with the setup.

For wireless computers, the setup will continue after connecting to the new WiFi name. If the page doesn’t change, just follow the instructions provided.

12. Enter your preferred Router password then click Next.

13. Your router is now successfully set up. The new WiFi settings and router admin password will be displayed. Click Next to complete the entire setup.

The setup will not leave a text file on the Desktop since it is browser-based and not a software running locally on your computer. Ensure that you write down the new settings in the fields provided on the quick start guide for future reference.

If you run into any problem with DSL setup and are not able to connect to the internet, you may need to contact your ISP to retrieve the information needed to manually configure these settings in the Power Modem tab of the router’s web interface. These settings are:

Multiplexing type (LLC or VC)
QoS Type
PCR value
SCR value
VPI value
VCI value
DSL Modulation

After clicking Next, you will be prompted to create a Linksys cloud account. Once you're done creating, you can now connect WiFi devices to your Linksys XAC1900 using your Linksys cloud account.
