Enabling the Remote Management Access of the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router

Remote Management allows you to manage the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router from a remote location, via the internet.  Managing the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router from a remote location is similar to accessing it locally.  The main difference is instead of typing the router’s LAN IP address in the web browser’s Address bar, you have to type the router’s internet IP address or you can use a desired name if you have a Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) account. 

IMPORTANT:  Before you proceed on enabling the Remote Management Access make sure to change the router’s default password.  To learn how, click

Follow the steps below to enable the Remote Management Access of the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router.

Step 1:
Log in to the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router's web interface.  For instructions, click
here.

Step 2:
Click the Configuration tab.

Step 3:
Click Administration.

Step 4:
Click Management.

Check the box beside Remote Management.

NOTE:  You can select to access the router remotely using HTTP or HTTPS.  If you have a specific Remote IP Address, select the option and enter the IP address.  The default Remote Management Port is 8080, you can change it if needed.

Accessing the Linksys router from a remote location    

To access the Linksys router from a remote location, you will either need your internet IP address located on the System Status page or use the DDNS name you configured on the Configuration > DDNS page.

 
Step 1:
Open a browser and type in “http://x.x.x.x:8080” (internet IP address and Remote Management Port is separated by a colon) or your DDNS name such as http://customname.dyndns.org:8080.

You should now be able to access the router’s web interface.
