Red

Solid

There may be a few reasons the bottom light is red:

  • No SIM card detected - First check if the SIM card is inserted as shown in the Quick Start Guide. Power OFF the Linksys FGW5500 before attempting to adjust the SIM card and turn it back ON.
  • No internet connection - If the SIM card is properly inserted and the router has finished booting up, the bottom light may turn red for a few seconds, wait until it changes to solid blue or green depending on your type of connection. The Linksys FGW5500 is simply detecting an internet connection. If the light remains solid red after 2 minutes, check your SIM settings by logging into the web interface of the Linksys FGW5500 or contact your SIM carrier and make sure the card is active.
  • Failed to boot up the system:
    • First, check if the WiFi name is broadcasting. If the WiFi isn’t broadcasting after 2 minutes when the light is solid red, try power cycling your Linksys FGW5500 or press the reset button. To reset the router these are the things you need to do.
    • If the light remains solid red after bootup and the WiFi is still not broadcasting, contact Linksys support.

OFF

The Linksys FGW5500 is OFF. To turn ON the router, power ON the switch at the back of the router, and make sure the router is plugged into a power source.

Booting up

Blue

Solid and a chasing pattern

  • Once the Linksys FGW5500 is powered ON, the bottom light will remain solid blue for 10 seconds.
  • You will then see all three lights in a chasing pattern in blue for 2 minutes. Wait until the chasing pattern has stopped. Once the lights have stopped, you should see the internet light turn a solid blue (5G) or green (LTE/4G) once an internet connection is detected.

All lights in a chasing pattern

Blue

Chasing pattern

There are a few reasons why all three lights will begin a blue-chasing pattern:

  • Powered ON – The Linksys FGW5500 has been powered ON and it is booting up. Wait until the lights have stopped.
  • Firmware upgrade – If the Linksys FGW5500 has detected a new firmware, it will begin to update automatically. Do not power OFF the Linksys FGW5500 during this process. Wait until the lights have stopped.

Reset

Blue

Blinking

Reset – The reset button has been pressed or clicked on the restore factory settings from the Linksys FGW5500 web interface. Wait until the lights have stopped before setting it up again.
