Setting up the Linksys FGW5500

This article will guide you on how to set up the Linksys FGW5500.

Requirements:

  • Nano SIM Card with an active subscription (not included in the package)
  • Latest versions of Chrome™, Firefox®, Microsoft Edge®, and Safari® web browsers
  • A computer for setup

Before you begin:

  • Make sure the router is powered OFF. Do not insert or remove the SIM card when the router is ON.
  • Write down the default WiFi credentials (SSID and Key) located at the bottom of the product. The Key is case-sensitive.
  • Write down the default router password located on the product label as Password, it’s case-sensitive. You can log in to the web interface of the router to make necessary changes, including changing the default password after.
  • Learn more about the light behavior of the router.

3. Connect the power adapter to the router’s DC-12V power port and then insert the correct plug into your home’s power outlet.

4. Switch ON the power at the back of the router. The router will start the booting process. The internet light will remain solid blue for about 10 seconds, and then all the lights will begin a blue-chasing pattern for about 2 minutes. Wait until the lights have stopped.

5. Once the blue-chasing pattern has stopped, the internet light may turn solid red for a few seconds, indicating the router is looking for an internet connection. Once an internet connection has been detected, the bottom light (Internet) will turn either solid green or solid blue depending on your connection type, followed by the WiFi light.

The VoIP light will remain OFF as the Voice feature is disabled by default.

Once the internet and WiFi lights are solid blue or green, your router is now ready to use.

6. You can now start connecting your WiFi devices to your router. The default WiFi name and password
(SSID and Key) are located on the product label at the bottom of the router. The Key is case-sensitive.

If you entered HTTP instead of HTTPS, you may receive an error message and you will need to
bypass this message by clicking continue or just re-entering “https://192.168.15.1”.

8. Enter “user” as the default Username and enter the default password located on the product label at the bottom of the router. Click Login.
