Changing the router password of the Linksys FGW5500

Changing the router's administration password is highly recommended to keep your network settings secure and protected from unauthorized access. The default login password is indicated on the product label as Password and it's case-sensitive.

This article will show you how to change your Linksys FGW5500 password.
 
1. Access the Linksys FGW5500's web interface.

2. On the left side of the dashboard, click on Management.

3. Click on Device Settings.

4. Type in your current password in the Old Login Password field.

5. Type in your preferred password in the New Login Password field and confirm your password.

The password must meet the following complexity rules and requirements:
 
  • At least one uppercase character
  • At least one lowercase character
  • At least one number 
  • At least one special character (punctuation and/or space)
  • The minimum length of a password is 10 characters.
  • The password shall not have consecutive identical characters
  • The values used in the login username and password shall not be the same

6. Click Apply.
