Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0 - Upgrading the Linksys Business Cloud Access Point's firmware

The Linksys Business Cloud Access Points provide a secure, high-speed WiFi connectivity, and advanced security and cloud management to access points, networks, and organizations.

With Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0, you can conveniently check and upgrade the access point's firmware.  Follow the steps below to learn how to do this.

Before you begin:

  • Create a Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0 account if you don't have one yet.  For instructions, click here.
  • If you are updating the firmware to migrate from Linksys Cloud Manager 1.0 to Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0, click here.
  • Make sure that the access point has power and is connected to the internet.

Below are the two ways where you can check and update the latest firmware:

Firmware Update list

To check if any of the access points in a network need an update you can go to the Firmware Update page.

Step 1:
Log in to the Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0.  For instructions, click
here.

Step 2:
Select an organization.  If there's only one organization, you will automatically have access to the Linksys Cloud Manager; if there are two or more, select and enter one.

Step 3:
Click on the name of the organization on the top right corner then click on Firmware Update.  In the example below, Project SMB is the initial of the organization.

Step 4:
The Firmware Update page will display a list of devices that have available firmware to update.  You can update a single access point, multiple access points, or all of them at the same time.

NOTE:  Make sure that the access point is enabled; otherwise, it will not be able to detect the firmware update.  To verify, enter the network for the access point and click on Devices.  If an access point is disabled, scroll down on its  menu and click on Enable.

Step 5:
To update one or more access points, click on the Update button then click on Install Update.  Perform the same process for the other devices.

To update all access points, click the checkbox next to Name (may vary on how the devices are sorted) then click on Update > Install Update.

Do not turn OFF the access point during this process.

The green dot next to the access point in the list will begin to blink grey, which means the update is in progress and the Update button will display a loading icon and show that it is updating the firmware.  The light on the access point will also begin to flash blue when the lights on your access point return to normal, the access point is ready.

After the update, the access point will be automatically removed from the Firmware Update list and the page will also tell you if all access points are up to date.

NOTE:  If the update is taking longer than expected, you can always navigate away from this page and check the status of the firmware in the Devices page > Details to see if the latest firmware version was applied.
