Configuring QoS on the Linksys Managed Switch

The Linksys Managed Switches namely, LGS528, LGS528P, LGS552, and LGS552P, are designed for customers who need enhanced Security and advanced QoS.  The LGS528P and LGS552P have built-in PoE+ feature that allows networking devices such as network hubs, IP phone, and IP cameras to be located anywhere without the need for AC outlets.

This article will provide you the instructions on how to configure QoS with the following configuration options on the Linksys Managed Switch.  
 
CoS Settings
Queue Scheduling
Bandwidth Control
Basic QoS Mode
 
CoS Settings
 
The Feature Configuration Screen contains fields for enabling basic QoS or disabling QoS, and defining the default CoS for each port or LAG.  Follow the steps below to configure the CoS Settings.
 
Step 1:
Access the managed switch’s web-based setup page.  To know how, click here.
 
Step 2:
On the setup page, click the Configuration tab.  Select Quality of Service and then click Feature Configuration.


Step 3:
In the Feature Configuration page, the default setting is Basic QoS mode.
 
Step 4:
Under the Interface CoS Table, select an interface and click Edit to define the default CoS levels for the device interfaces.
 

Step 5:
Set the desired CoS settings.
 

Step 6:
Click .

You have now configured the CoS Settings.

Queue Scheduling
 
The Queue Scheduling Screen contains fields for defining the QoS queue forwarding types and scheduling.  The queue settings can be defined for the whole device.  Follow the steps below to configure the Queue Settings.
 
Step 1:
On the web-based setup page, click Quality of Service > Queue Scheduling.


Step 2:
Select whether traffic scheduling is based on either Strict Priority or Weighted Round Robin (WRR).  In the example below, WRR is selected.


Step 3:
Click .

You have now configured the Queue Settings.

Bandwidth Control
 
Step 1:
On the setup page, click Quality of Service > Bandwidth Control.


Step 2:
Select Interface Type (Port or LAG) and click Edit to define the relevant fields in the Bandwidth parameters area.


Step 3:
Set the desired Bandwidth Control settings.
 

Step 4:
Click .

You have now configured the Bandwidth Control.
 
Basic Mode QoS
 
Step 1:
On the setup page, click Quality of Service > Basic QoS.


Step 2:
Select the Trust Mode type.  In the example below, DSCP is selected.


Step 3:
Click .

Step 4:
Under the Interface CoS Table, select an interface and click Edit to enable or disable its (Port or LAG) QoS state.


Step 5:
Click .
