Setting up the Linksys EA8100 using the Setup Wizard

This article will guide you on how to set up the Linksys EA8100 Max-Stream™ AC2600 Gigabit WiFi Router with StarHub as the Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Before you start the setup process, make sure you have the following:
  • Linksys EA8100
  • One or two ethernet cables
  • A wireless device (smartphone or tablet) or a computer with an ethernet port
  • Active internet connection from StarHub
  • Browser requirements for the router setup and Linksys Smart Wi-Fi access:
    • Latest version of Internet Explorer®, Google Chromeâ„¢, Mozilla Firefox®, Safari® (for Mac® or iPad®) or Microsoft Edge®
    • Latest Adobe® Flash® Player​
 
Follow the steps below to know how to set up the Linksys EA8100 using the Setup Wizard.
 
Step 1:
Identify the equipment provided by StarHub.

Scenario 1:  If you have a separate modem and standalone router, disconnect and remove the router.

Scenario 2:  If you have a modem-router, leave it connected.

Step 2:
Connect the ethernet cable from the LAN port on your modem to the Internet (yellow) port of your Linksys EA8100.

Step 3:
Turn ON the equipment provided by StarHub and wait for 1 minute before proceeding to the next step.

Step 4:
Connect the supplied power adapter into the Linksys EA8100 and plug it into an electrical outlet.

QUICK TIP:  Make sure that the Linksys EA8100's power light (Linksys logo) is solid before proceeding to the next step.  If it does not light up, press the power button at the back of the Linksys EA8100 to reboot.

NOTE:  Below is a typical setup for StarHub Fiber connection.

Step 5:
Using a smartphone or tablet, connect to the Linksys EA8100’s default Wi-Fi settings.  The default Wi-Fi name and password are listed on the Linksys EA8100’s product label.

NOTE:  If you are using a wired computer, connect an ethernet cable from your computer to any of the numbered ports at the back of the Linksys EA8100.

Step 6:
Launch your web browser and enter "http://linksyssmartwifi.com" in the Address bar then press [Enter].

QUICK TIP:  If you are unable to launch the Smart Setup, you can enter the default IP address of the router, "192.168.10.1" in the browser's Address bar.


Step 7:
Check the box beside I have read and accepted the License Terms for using this software. then click Next to proceed.

NOTE:  Once you accept the license terms, the Linksys EA8100 light will lit up.  Solid white means there is internet connection while blinking white means the internet is down.
 
Step 8:
In the Updates for your router window, the Install future router updates automatically (recommended) is checked by default to allow automatic updates.  You can uncheck it to control when to perform an update.  You can also enable this option again after you log into the router's web-based setup page.  Click Next to proceed.

Step 9:
Enter your desired Wi-Fi Name and Wi-Fi Password in the fields provided, then click Next.

Step 10:
Enter a router password in the Create a router password field then click Next.
 
QUICK TIP:  If your router displays an Add a password hint option, enter your preferred hint in the field provided.  This will help you remember your router password in the future.  Your password hint will only appear when you choose Local Access.

Step 11:
If you see the Your router is set up! message, this means that your router is now successfully set up.  The new Wi-Fi settings, as well as the router admin password, will be displayed.  Click Next to complete the entire setup.

QUICK TIP:  Ensure that you write down the new settings in the fields provided on the Quick Start Guide for future reference.

Step 12:
Your Wi-Fi should now be working.  Next, you can create a Linksys cloud account to get access to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tools and the Linksys app that makes your home network easier to manage and enjoy.  For instructions, click here.  If you already have an account, click the Sign In link instead.

Step 13:
You may now access your router’s web-based setup page by entering the router password you created in Step 10.

Once you have logged in, you can access the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tools and set them according to your preferences.

You have now successfully set up your Linksys EA8100 using the Setup Wizard.
