[Singapore] How to replace the StarHub Bundled Wireless Router with the Linksys EA7500

This article will show you the procedure on how to replace the StarHub bundled wireless router with the Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream™ AC1900 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router.

Requirements before setting up your router


The following requirements should be met to avoid any problems during the setup:

  • Browser requirements for the router setup and Linksys Smart Wi-Fi access:
    • Microsoft Edgeâ„¢
    • Internet Explorer® 8 or higher
    • Latest version of Chromeâ„¢ and Firefox®
    • Safari® (for Mac® or iPad®)
    • Latest Adobe® Flash® Player​​​
  • Materials for setup – You should have the following items:
    • Linksys EA7500
    • One or two internet / ethernet (RJ-45) cables
    • A wireless device (computer, smartphone or tablet) or a computer with an ethernet port
  • Active internet connection from StarHub


Step 1:
Replace the StarHub bundled wireless router with the Linksys EA7500.  Connect the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to the Internet port of the Linksys EA7500.

Step 2:
Plug the supplied power adapter to an electrical outlet and into the Linksys EA7500.

QUICK TIP:  Make sure that the router's power light is solid before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3:
Using a smartphone or tablet, connect to the Linksys EA7500’s default Wi-Fi settings.  The default Wi-Fi name and password are listed on the Linksys EA7500’s product label.

NOTE:  If you are using a wired computer, connect an ethernet cable from your computer to any of the numbered ports at the back of the Linksys EA7500.

Step 4:
Open a browser and enter the router's IP address in your web browser’s Address bar and press [ENTER].

QUICK TIP:  The default IP address of the Linksys router is 192.168.1.1.  If you have modified it, use the new IP address instead.

Step 5:
Log in with your administrator password.  The default password is admin.  If you changed it, use that password instead then click Sign in.

Step 6:

Go to Router Settings > Troubleshooting.  Click the Diagnostics sub-tab and, under Internet Address, make sure you have a valid IP address.  If not, click on Release and Renew link.  Once prompted, select Yes and check the IP address again.  Test your internet connection by launching a website.

NOTE:  Power cycling both the ONT and the Linksys EA7500 will also help renew the IP address.
