Getting to know the Linksys E8400 AC2400 Dual-Band Wireless Router

The Linksys E8400 AC2400 Dual-Band Wireless Router is an 802.11ac wireless router.  This is a 4x4 dual-band router with one (1) USB 3.0 and one (1) eSATA / USB 2.0 combo port.  It comes with embedded Setup Wizard for easy installation.

Adjustable External Antennas

This router is shipped with four (4) adjustable external antennas.  These should be connected to the router before turning the router ON.  To connect the antennas, twist the antenna connector clockwise onto the antenna port on the router.
 
NOTE:  In order to connect the antennas, make sure you hold them by the end of the connector as you are twisting them in

These Ethernet ports connect the router to the computers and other devices on your wired network using Ethernet cables.

Using an Ethernet cable, the Internet port connects the router to your Internet connection, which is typically a Cable or Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem.


User-added image Wi-Fi Protected Setupâ„¢ (WPS) button
 
If you have client devices, such as wireless printers, that support Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS), you can press the WPS button to automatically configure wireless security for your wireless network.  To know how to connect devices using the WPS feature, click

The two (2) USB ports can be used for virtual printing and storage.

This button allows you to reset the router to its factory defaults.  To do this, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 10 seconds.

The Power port connects to the power adapter that comes with your router.

Wi-Fi Button and Indicator 

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button for three (3) seconds to enable/disable the wireless function.  When enabled, the Wi-Fi indicator lights up.

Power Indicator

The LED is solid while power is connected.  It blinks slowly during boot up, firmware upgrades and factory reset.
