Setting up the Linksys E8400 AC2400 Dual-Band Wireless Router using the embedded Setup Wizard

The Linksys E8400 AC2400 Dual-Band Wireless Router comes with embedded Setup Wizard for fast and easy installation.
 
Ensure that you have active Internet connection directly connected to your modem.  If not, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  Perform the steps below to set up your Linksys E8400 router:
 
NOTE:  If you are replacing an existing router, make sure to disconnect it first before you proceed.
 
Step 1:
Connect the four (4) antennas to your Linksys E8400 router and plug the router to the power source.
 
Step 2:
Make sure the power switch on the router is set to | (ON) position.
 
Step 3:
Using an Ethernet cable, connect the modem to the Internet port of your router.  Wait until the flashing green LED between the reset button and power port turns solid.
 
Step 4:
Using your wireless computer, connect to the wireless network name (SSID) shown in the Quick Start Guide that came with your router.  Alternatively, you can also connect a computer via an Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet ports on your router.
 
QUICK TIP:  You can change the wireless network name and password later.

NOTE:  Your computer will not have Internet access until router installation is complete.

Step 5:
Open a web browser and type “192.168.1.1” to start the setup.
 
Step 6:
On the Linksys E8400 Setup Wizard screen, check I have read and accept the License Terms for using this software checkbox.  Then, click Next.

NOTE:  If you want to set up the router manually click, the Cancel button.  This will log you out of the Setup Wizard.  To access the router’s web-based setup page, enter your router’s IP address on the Address bar.  
 
Step 7:
Click the Next button.

Step 8:
Enter your preferred wireless Network Name (SSID) and wireless Password for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless network.  Then, click Next.

Step 9:
Create a new administrative router password and click Next.

QUICK TIP:  The Linksys router’s default password is admin.  Make sure your administrative router password is different from your wireless password.

Step 10:
Click Save.

QUICK TIP:  Make sure to print or save a copy of your wireless settings.

Step 11:
You now have successfully set up your Linksys E8400 router.  Click Finish to access the Internet.
 
NOTE:  On the Congratulations window, you will see the Current firmware version of your Linksys router.  To check for latest firmware, click the Check Firmware button.

QUICK TIP:  If a new firmware is available, you will have the option to upgrade when this message appears.  If you decide not to upgrade your router’s firmware when this message appears, you can update your router manually at a later time.  To know how, click here.
