Changing the Wi-Fi settings of the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router

It is important to change the basic Wi-Fi settings on your router in order to establish a unique and secure connection.  A protected Wi-Fi prevents unwanted access to personal information.

NOTES:  
  • The changes you can do include assigning a Wi-Fi name and securing your connection through a Wi-Fi password.
  • The Wi-Fi password is NOT the router password.  To learn how to check and update the router password, click here.
  • Changing your Wi-Fi settings will disconnect all wireless devices from your router.  You have to reconnect them using the new settings.
Follow the steps below to change the Wi-Fi settings of the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router:

Changing Wi-Fi or Network Name (SSID)

Step 1:
Log in to the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router's web interface.  For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Click the Configuration tab.

Step 3:
Click Wi-Fi.

Step 4:
Enter new Network Name (SSID) name for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wireless Settings.

NOTE:  It is recommended to leave the Channel Width and Channel on Auto.  However, you can select the channel you wish should you need to troubleshoot any Wi-Fi issues.  The available wireless channels may vary depending on your region.
 
Step 5:
Click Save.

Changing Wi-Fi password
 
Step 1:
Log in to the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router web interface.  For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Click the Configuration tab.

Step 3:
Click Wi-Fi.

Step 4:
Click Wireless Security.

Enter the new Wi-Fi password or Passphrase for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

Step 6:
Click Save.

You have successfully changed the Wi-Fi settings of your Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router.
