Configuring the Cross Band settings

The Cross Band technology maximizes the simultaneous use of both bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for high speed data transfer and uninterrupted streaming and gaming.  It receives a signal on one (1) frequency and transmits simultaneously on another channel for the purpose of full duplex communication.  So rather than taking turns to transmit on the same frequency, both clients can transmit at the same time but on different bands.

NOTE:  It is recommended to leave the default setting on Auto for better performance.

Cross Band technology
Auto
  • Default setting.  Lets the extender automatically choose the suitable path to transmit data between the device and wireless router or access point.  Recommended and preferred.
Manual
  • Selects preferred path to transmit data between device and wireless router or access point.
  • Configuration on the Uplink section is independent of the configuration of the Local Extended Network.  Example, users can force uplink to use 2.4 GHz only and will not restrict users to any of the  three (3) options for running the Local Extender Network.
Uplink
Non-cross Dual Band
  • Choose this option if you don't need the Cross Band feature.
  • If the device connects to the extender using 5 GHz, then the extender will go through 5 GHz to transmit data.
  • If the device connects to the extender using 2.4 GHz, then the extender will go through 2.4 GHz to transmit data.
Cross Dual Band
  • Choose this option if you want to force data transmitting by cross band.  Preferred option for faster performance.
  • If the device connects to the extender using 5 GHz, then the extender will go through 2.4 GHz to transmit data to the router.
  • If the device connects to the extender using 2.4 GHz, then the extender will go through 5 GHz to transmit data to the router.
2.4G Only
  • Choose this option if you want to force data to transmit through 2.4 GHz only between extender and root.
5G Only
  • Choose this option if you want to force data to transmit through 5 GHz only between extender and root.
Local Extended Network
Concurrent Dual Band
  • Allows device to use dual band connection with the extender.
2.4G Only
  • Allows device to use 2.4 GHz connection with the extender only.
  • This option disables the 5 GHz Extended link, and not the Uplink.
5G Only
  • Allows device to use 5 GHz connection with the extender only.
  • This option disables the 2.4 GHz Extended link, and not the Uplink.
