Setting up the Linksys LN1100 for PPPoE connection (manual setup)

The Linksys LN1100 out of the box is automatically set up for internet connections with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

If you have a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection or any other internet type that requires manual configuration of the internet settings to establish an internet connection with a Linksys LN1100 router, follow the steps below.

Before you begin:

  • For PPPoE customers, have your provider settings ready such as your account name and password.
  • Write down the WiFi name, password, and recovery key located on the parent router's product label.
  • Parent router/node - The parent router/node refers to the Linksys LN1100 router that will be connected to your modem.
  • Child node - An additional node to expand your WiFi such as a Linksys LN1200 or another Linksys LN1100 node.
  • Learn more about the status light of the Linksys LN1100 and LN1200.

Depending on the router's current setup status, choose one of the options:

A. Plug-and-play wizard displays No internet connection error - select this option to continue
B. Manual Setup

If you have any child nodes, once the parent router has a solid white light, the child nodes will take a few minutes before they turn solid white as well. Once all your nodes have a solid white light, your network is ready to use. Connect your devices to the WiFi name of the router. The credentials are shown on the product label.

B. Manual Setup

With this option, the router and any child nodes will be reset to bypass the setup wizard and manually set up the router.

1. Gather all your equipment in the same area as your modem. After the nodes are set up, you can relocate your child nodes.

2. Power ON all your nodes. The child nodes need to be near the parent router, no more than 10 ft away, preferably in the same room. Wait until all your nodes have a solid blue light, which indicates they are ready for setup.

If any of the nodes do not have a solid blue light, reset them by holding down the reset button for about 15 seconds, then wait until the light becomes solid blue.
