NOTE:  The default IP address of the Linksys Business Wireless-N & Wireless-AC Access Points is 192.168.1.252 when there is no DHCP server detected in the network.

Connecting your access point

There are two ways to gain access:

1.
Connecting the access point directly to your computer
2. Connecting your access point to your existing network

Connecting the access point directly to your computer

Assigning a static IP address on your computer allows you to access the web-based setup page of your access point while directly connected to the computer.
1. Use the ethernet cable that came with your access point and connect your access point to the LAN port of your computer.  Make sure the LED is lit on your access point.

2. Assign a static IP address on your computer.

When assigning a static IP address on your computer, use an IP address that is in range with your access point.  An example of this is 192.168.1.10

3. After assigning a static IP on your computer, you can now access the web-based setup page of your access point.

4. Proceed to
accessing your access point’s web-based setup page.

Connecting your access point to your existing network

In this scenario, you already have a working internet connection through your router.

1. Use the ethernet cable that came with your access point and connect one end of it to your router or network switch.

2. Connect the other end to your access point.

If you are not using a PoE network, you will need to connect the power supply to the access point in order to provide power.

3. Connect a computer using an ethernet cable directly to the same network as your access point.

4. Check the DHCP Client table and take note of the IP address assigned by the router to your wireless access point.  If you are using a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account, click
here.
  • Existing DHCP server in the network – The access point will obtain an IP address from your existing DHCP server.  You will need to look up the new IP address in your DHCP table in order to login.
  • No DHCP server in the network – If the access point does not detect a DHCP server in the network, it will default to 192.168.1.252.  You must assign a static IP address to your computer within this scheme just to gain access to the web-based setup page.  Once you have configured it, you can remove this static IP address.
You can also determine the IP address of the access point by pinging it through the command prompt.   In the command prompt, enter “ping LAPXXXXX”, where XXXXX is the last five (5) digits of the MAC Address of your device.  The MAC Address is located underneath the device.

Accessing your access point’s web-based setup page

1. Open a web browser and enter your access point’s default IP address and press [Enter].

In the example below, LAPN600 is used.

2. A new window will prompt for a Username and Password.  Enter your access point’s login details then click Log in.

By default, the username and password is admin.  If you have changed it but have forgotten the new password, it is recommended to reset the access point.

By default, access to the web-based setup page via a wireless client is disabled.  You will need to connect via an ethernet cable in order to access the setup page.  Once you are logged in, you can enable this option in the setup page.

To enable accessing the AP web interface via wireless clients, go to Configuration > Administration> Management Access and check the Enable box for the From Wireless option.

You should have now accessed the web-based setup page of your Linksys Business Wireless-N & Wireless-AC Access Points.
