EasyMesh

The EasyMesh technology allows your router to add a Linksys EasyMesh child node to extend your WiFi and be compatible with other Linksys EasyMesh-supported devices.

With the latest firmware, the EasyMesh is enabled after running the setup wizard.  If your router has older firmware, the feature is turned OFF by default.

  • Make sure EasyMesh is turned ON if you will be adding child nodes to extend your WiFi.  Check the EasyMesh box, click OK, then click Save at the bottom to save your settings.
  • Disable EasyMesh if you are not using child nodes to extend the WiFi, or you no longer want to use it.  Click Save to apply the changes.

NOTE:  If you have existing child nodes in your network, turning OFF the EasyMesh feature on the parent node will disconnect all your child nodes.

  • The EasyMesh feature is disabled when the router is on factory defaults but enabled after you set up the router using the setup wizard.
  • To add an EasyMesh child node to extend your WiFi, click on Add a new node.  For instructions, click here.

NOTE:  Make sure your node has the latest firmware that supports EasyMesh.

  • To view the list of your connected client devices or child nodes, click on Mesh information.

Channel

The recommended channel setting is Auto.

SSID

The SSID is the WiFi name.  When you change the SSID on the parent node, the new SSID will sync to the connected child nodes.  The clients will need to reconnect to the new WiFi name.  Check the box to broadcast your SSID.

To save your settings, scroll down to the bottom and click Save.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup

With the latest firmware, the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) feature is enabled after running the setup wizard.  This is for the child nodes that will be added later.  The WPS checkbox is greyed out and cannot be turned OFF since WPS pairing is needed when adding child nodes.  If you want the WPS turned OFF, disable the EasyMesh feature first.

Pressing the WPS button for 3 seconds or less, or just a tap will initiate pairing between the node and a WPS client.  Pressing it for more than 3 seconds will initiate the pairing with a child node.

NOTE:  The WPS feature cannot be used when your router’s Broadcast SSID is disabled, any of your radio bands are disabled, or if MAC Filtering is enabled.

Wireless Security

You can configure your WiFi security settings on the Wireless Security page.  The default security option for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands is WPA2 Personal.

Guest Access

You can enable or disable the Guest Network on the Guest Access page.  This is supported on both parent and child nodes.  The Guest Password consists of four to 32 characters, and up to 10 guests are allowed.  To update the Guest Password, click on Change.  Once you're done configuring your Guest Network, click Save.

The Guest name uses the main WiFi name with -guest appended to the end.

Wireless MAC Filter

Click on the box before Wireless MAC Filter to enable or disable it.  Then, choose whether this will prevent or permit the computers listed on the MAC Address Filter List to access your WiFi.  You can enter up to 32 MAC addresses or click on the Wireless Client List to register the MAC address of the device that is already connected to your WiFi.

Then, click the Save button found at the bottom part of the page when you’re done.

The Wireless Client List provides the following options:

  • To Sort by - Clicking on the dropdown menu sorts the clients in order of IP Address, MAC Address, Interface, or Client Name.
  • Save to MAC Address Filter List - Clicking the box before HTTP of the selected client adds it to the list.
  • Add - This adds the MAC address of the selected client on the MAC Address Filter List.
  • Refresh - This retrieves the updated list of clients.
  • Close - This exits the window.
