The Linksys WAPT1200AC AC1200 Wi-Fi Access Point is the latest AC-series access point that utilizes Cross Band technology.  The Linksys WAPT1200AC offers the option to use it as a Wireless Range Extender or a Wired Access Point.  This maximizes simultaneous use of both bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for high speed data transfer and uninterrupted streaming and gaming.  It receives a signal on one (1) frequency and transmits simultaneously on another channel for the purpose of full duplex communication in Access Point mode.  For more information about the Linksys WAPT1200AC, click here.

The following are the product requirements when using your Linksys WAPT1200AC:
  • Wi-Fi enabled computers or mobile devices
  • AC power outlet
  • Ethernet router or switch with available RJ45 Ethernet port and RJ45 cable for Access Point mode or wireless network for Range Extender mode
  • For browser configuration:

8.  How do I position the antennas of my Linksys WAPT1200AC to optimize maximum signal strength?
 
The two (2) non-detachable antennas are adjustable to different positions depending on its location at home.  To optimize your antennas’ maximum signal strength, follow the recommended positions.  To learn more about this, click here.
 
IMPORTANT:  The antennas are fixed and can ONLY rotate at 180 degrees.  Do NOT force the antennas too far back, otherwise, they will break.
 
9.  What is the purpose of the Audio port and how do I use it?
 
The Linksys WAPT1200AC boasts of its wireless music playback feature.  The Audio port lets you connect any 3.5 mm earphone and powered speakers to it.  It allows you to stream music on your network and play it on the speakers or headset through the Audio port. 
                            
10.  What media players are supported by the Linksys WAPT1200AC?
 
The following is a list of currently supported apps/software by the Linksys WAPT1200AC:
  • iOS (must be part of the same network) - Devices including iPhone®, iPad® or iPod® can stream music with proprietary software or other apps such as ArkMC, SmartStor Fusion, Mconnect, and DK UPnPâ„¢/DLNA®
  • Androidâ„¢ (must be part of the same network) - Android users can stream music with MediaHouse, UPnPlay, ArkMC, BubbleUPnP, Pixel Media, and 2Player 2.0.
  • Windows® - Users can stream music with Windows Media Player 12.  To do this, open Windows Media Player, right-click on a music file and choose Linksys Access Point.
  • Mac OS X® - Users can stream music with SofaPlay or proprietary software such as iTunes®.  To configure iTunes, open iTunes, choose speakers then select Linksys Access Point.
The Linksys WAPT1200AC supports MP3, FLAC, WAV, WMA and AAC file formats, as long as those formats are supported by the device and the app doing the streaming.

1.  How do I set up the Linksys WAPT1200AC?

2.  Can I set up the Linksys WAPT1200AC using a smart mobile device?
 
Yes.  Any mobile device or wireless computer can be used to set up the Linksys WAPT1200AC.
 
3.  What is the default IP address and password of the Linksys WAPT1200AC?
 
If the Linksys WAPT1200AC does not detect a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server in your network and has not obtained an IP address from a router, its default IP address is 192.168.1.1.  The default password is admin.
 
4.  What are the two (2) setup modes of my Linksys WAPT1200AC?
 
The Linksys WAPT1200AC can be set up in two (2) modes.  These are:
  • Wired Range Extender Access Point mode (requires an Ethernet cable connected to your existing network)
  • Wireless Range Extender mode

Yes.  The default mode when choosing manual setup is Access Point mode.  In order to change the mode to Range Extender mode, you will need to reset your Linksys WAPT1200AC and run the Setup Wizard.  For instructions, click here.
 
9.  How do I reset my Linksys WAPT1200AC?
 
Press and hold the Reset button of your Linksys WAPT1200AC for 10 seconds to reset it to factory default settings.
 
10.  How do I identify what mode the Linksys WAPT1200AC is in?
 
After setup, access the Linksys WAPT1200AC’s web-based setup page to view the updated top header name. 
 
NOTE:  If the Linksys WAPT1200AC is on Access Point mode, the top header will read Dual Band Wireless Access Point.  If it is on Range Extender mode, the top header will read Dual Band Wireless Range Extender.
 
11.  How do I switch from Access Point mode to Range Extender mode?
 
You will need to Reset your Linksys WAPT1200AC for 10 seconds and run the Setup Wizard.
 
NOTE:  Resetting the Linksys WAPT1200AC will bring it back to factory settings.
 
12.  Can I log in to the web-based setup page of my Linksys WAPT1200AC using http://extender.linksys.com?
 
Yes.  Both http://ap.linksys.com and http://extender.linksys.com will work in accessing the web-based setup page of your Linksys WAPT1200AC.

1.  How do I upgrade the firmware of the Linksys WAPT1200AC?

1.  What is the maximum Data Rate speed for each band?
 
The maximum data rate speed of the Linksys WAPT1200AC is up to 300 Mbps for 2.4 GHz and up to 866 Mbps for 5 GHz.
 
2.  Which wireless connection standards and frequencies are supported by the Linksys WAPT1200AC?
 
The Linksys WAPT1200AC supported standards are 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11a, and 802.11ac.  It also supports the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies simultaneously.
 
3.  What wireless security modes do the Linksys WAPT1200AC support?
 
The Linksys WAPT1200AC supports the following wireless security modes:
  • Wired Equivalent Protocol (WEP)

4.  Can I change the Extended Wireless Settings of my access point while on Range Extender mode?

5.  Where can I find the MAC Address of my access point for Wireless MAC Filtering?
 
You can find the wireless MAC Address of your Linksys WAPT1200AC in its web-based setup page.  To do this, go to Status > WLAN Statistics > Seen by Upstream AP. 
 
NOTE:  If the Linksys WAPT1200AC is on Access Point mode, this field will not be displayed since the device is wired to the router.

7.  What options can I select if I want to manually setup the Cross Band settings?
 
Below are the scenarios on what adjustments to make:
  • Non-cross Dual Band - This option disables the Cross Band feature of the Linksys WAPT1200AC.
  • Cross Dual Band - This option turns the Cross Band feature ON.
  • 2.4 GHz Only - Choose this option if you want to force data to transmit through 2.4 GHz ONLY between the device and root.
  • 5 GHz Only - Choose this option if you want to force data to transmit through 5 GHz ONLY between the device and root.

8.  What is the Spot Finder technology?
 
The Spot Finder technology determines the signal strength of your Linksys WAPT1200AC.  It lets you know if your Linksys WAPT1200AC is too close or too far from your router.
 
IMPORTANT:  The Spot Finder technology is ONLY available when your Linksys WAPT1200AC is on Range Extender mode.
