Linksys N600 Pro WiFi Range Extender

Stream videos and play online games without interference, thanks to transfer speeds of up to N300 Mbps + N300 Mbps*. Plus, we equipped the RE4000W with two Fast Ethernet ports so you can create reliable wired connections to desktop and laptop computers and other Internet-ready devices.

Range Extender

The RE4000W extends the wireless coverage area of up to 7,500 square feet** by repeating and redistributing the signal from the router to eliminate dead zones. It also features Crossband technology, allowing wireless bands to receive information on one band and transmit on the other to reduce dropped data packets.

The result is a stronger, more reliable WiFi signal, allowing you to stay connected on your laptop or mobile device from anywhere inside--or even outside--your home.

Easy Setup

Extend your Internet access in 3 easy steps:

  1. Connect the power cable.
  2. Plug in the range extender midway between your router and the area without WiFi.
  3. Once a solid light appears on the range extender cover, connect to the WiFi network "Linksys Extender Setup."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine but be careful with setup In service for about a month, works fine. Note about setup, though, the setup program supplied is VERY sensitive, if you inadvertently get anything wrong it locks you out. I ended up downloading the more detailed doc which had exactly what I needed to configure the unit properly. I have two different networks, one on 2.5 and one on 5.0, this unit handles both just fine. It wasn't clear (to me) from the original information but this unit comes with both a direct-to-power plug if you want to just put it in the outlet, AND with a power cord if you need to locate it somewhat away from the power outlet. I have my unit located in a very tight space so the power cord was really handy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough to set up! I was wanting an option to increase signal strength for streaming sports video on my main TV in the family room which is in the opposite corner of my house from the office where my modem and router are located. I tried at least 4 times on different occasions to install the RE4000W; finally, I succeeded. Then I needed several tries to find a location that was acceptable to successfully complete the installation/setup. TIP: based on my experience, I could not plug the Extender directly into an electrical outlet on an outside wall of my house either during initial setup or finial installation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product not worth the aggravation. Bought this range extender to improve connectivity in my home. The installation was a pain. Instructions were practically useless and they were disorganized. Instructions kept leading me into dead ends. it took several hours of trying to navigate the online procedures for installing the unit. Only to find out that the unit was not set up to work with later versions of iOS. Once the programing was completed. The unit seemed to have little or no impact on extending the range of my router. I would seem this product was a waste of money and time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Reliability & Performance I bought a pair of these at Costco about a year ago. The setup was easy and straightforward. About a month ago one of the two started flashing constantly. It would not reset either. It went into the trash. Oh, well I thought, I have one left. Last week the survivor dropped out of my network. While it does stop flashing when powered up, it will not reset nor does the WPS work. So what I have now is a pretty white book end with a green light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied Consumer I have been wanting to try a Range Extender ever since we finally got Hi Speed Internet a few years ago. We live in the Wilds of NC and my Son-in-law has a Smart TV out in his Man Cave, he uses one of those long range TV Antennas to get reception from 50mi.away. I purchased our Linksys RE4000W online from Walmart, refurbished for $16.99. It came today and I hooked it up per. instructions, was extremely easy. We have Centurylink and our speed is a little over 10, that's all that is available in our area. It is enough to stream. I located it on the outside wall (inside house) 75ft. from Man Cave and it pushed a 10.3 to his TV. He is now watching a Movie on Amazon. I am extremely satisfied with this Product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pay for customer service on new linksys ? I purchased a link sys system from WalMart on a Saturday and attempted to install it. When I called technical support they asked me for all of my information then told me that I could get 24 technical support for 29.99. Then to top everything off the guy told me that my warranty was going to expire on that Monday. I immediately returned it to Walmart and I am officially through with Linksys. I should have known as this is very similar to a prior experience. Poor business !!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So so This was my third upgrade to an extender. Works so so for me. I have a very large old house with lathe and plaster walls and my router is in the attic above the second floor. All of this works against my signal. I have never been able to just run the startup program and have it connect. Have to do a manual connect every time I purchase a new unit. Also, info says I can set up the extender with another ssid name, but I am getting ready to reset my router because I tried this and now I cannot connect to the router through Smart WiFi page. Bummer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Partial waste of money if you live outside US The Range extender does what it says, but Cisco/Linksys sell them outside of the US (In my case, Argentina) and they do not tell you anywhere (they lack the specifications in all web pages and manuals), that it doesn't support lower 5Ghz bands (less than channel 100), it also doesnt support legaly available channels outside the US (12, 13, 14). this is not specificed in any manual, and they still sell it. they should release a firmware for outside-US consumers. It also cannot handle the full 2.4GHz performance. if you have a 50Mbps Line being used in the 802.11n, it will loose 10Mbps, and you end up with 40 Mbps, even in full signal strength, no other wifi signals and channels on top, and no interference. it clearly has a sub-standard firmware.

*Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will increase or decrease depending on wireless obstructions, operating environments and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique.
**Maximum performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specification. Actual performance can vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, range and coverage. Performance depends on many factors, conditions and variables, including distance from the access point, volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, operating system used, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions.
