For competitive performance, we equipped the WRT1200AC with four Gigabit Ethernet ports featuring speeds up to 10 times faster than Fast Ethernet. Using the USB 3.0 port**, you can add external storage devices to share content across your network, or a printer for the office. For those with an external SATA storage device, the WRT1200AC is outfitted with an eSATA port for convenience and optimal data transfer rates. This port can also serve as a USB 2.0 port.

Linksys WRT1200AC Wireless AC Router

To provide fast, reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home or office, the WRT1200AC features two high-performance antennas engineered to enhance 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band wireless connections. With adjustable antennas and Beamforming technology delivering a focused signal to individual devices, you'll experience faster network speeds, better range, and reduced interference from other devices for strong, stable Wi-Fi connections.

With a professional-grade, 1.3GHz dual-core ARM processor, the WRT1200AC is one of the fastest Wireless-AC routers in its class. Unlike standard single-core processors which have to switch between data streams and aren't as suited for multitasking, a dual-core processor can handle multiple data streams simultaneously. The result: better efficiency and performance, particularly in today's multi-device world.

Open Source

While the Linksys WRT1200AC provides an outstanding experience via Smart Wi-Fi immediately out of the box, advanced users can further modify the router with open source firmware. Developed for use with OpenWRT, an open source, Linux-based operating system, the router offers an additional layer of customization to suit your needs.

With the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi App, you can closely monitor and manage your home Wi-Fi remotely using a smartphone or tablet.

  • Guest Access: Create a separate, password-protected Wi-Fi network for up to 50 guests and easily share the password.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good! This Router was by far the easiest I have ever had to install. Granted, the last one I used was a Linksys WRT54G that lasted well over 10 years! I hope this one lasts just as long. Accessing the device for setup and management is a breeze. The unit simply does what it says it will do. It WORKS! I gave it one less star because the only feature I which these routers had (and so far as I have been able to figure out this one does not have) was a software tool that allows the user to monitor internet usage for each of the connected devices and generate a daily, weekly and monthly report of that usage. It seems like such a solution would be a no-brainer for today's wireless routers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality, Very Unstable-Expensive Useless Linksys used to make solid routers such as the WRT54G, but has failed terribly with this new model. Bought this unit (WRT1200AC) about a week ago and I have had to reboot it at least 5 times. I have tried everything from changing the channels for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies to no avail. I have also refresh the firmware, but only fix problem for a day or two. 5ghz frequency is very unstable drops signal often and stops working all together....... I have been a loyal Linksys customer due to the excellent WRT54G router which still works to this day, but after this experience I will NEVER buy another Linksys product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Start, Feature Rich This is an impressive router. The setup is fool proof for novices but feature rich for the advanced users. It is security conscience from the start with encrypted connection from the moment you power it up. It includes automatic software update so the router is always the best it can be. The advanced features do not get in the way of the setup. This router supports OpenVPN so if your away from home, you'll be able to connect securely back to your home network. Also you have the option to download an app for the iPhone or Android and control the router when you are away from home. There are parental controls that you can setup with a visual representation of devices connected. There is a separate connection for guest access, so your friends who want to connect to your wifi can use your internet but prevent them from snooping on any resources shared in your network. Vlan support is available for the Internet port (WAN) and 2 of the other switch port out of 4. It supports IPV6 and the greatest feature of all... hard drive support. I can now have a centralized location to retrieve my media files from any device on the network and also do regular backup of my data. The switch ports are all gigabit speeds so you will be able to push as much data as possible through the wireless connection from a cabled connection. You can even change the light indicators on the router! If I had to criticize anything about this product, it's that is still uses a bulky power adapter. I can't imagine there being something better then this product, except that there is. One with support of newer WiFi standards!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Requires regular rebooting This router requires rebooting on a daily basis in order to maintain Wi-Fi speeds. The ISP is not the issue, wired connections are stable. I have also tested the line with a different router - no issues there. The WRT1200AC loses Wi-Fi speeds, the 5 GHz band usually goes first but both bands are eventually affected. It is also not channel congestion, my house is far from the neighbors. I have tried a multitude of channels, widths, security, etc. I have re-flashed the firmware, I have enabled and disabled media prioritization, all to no avail. I then contacted Linksys and they sent me a replacement which lasted 5 days until the same issue developed again. Trying to get a refund now. This is a shame as the router has great range and a good user interface. Wish it was stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally streaming without interruption! I didn't realize that my previous wireless router was inadequate and the culprit behind my slow streaming until I got this new router. Its been about a month and wow, what a difference. I routinely have multiple items on at one time Roku, PC, Laptop, phone, etc. and I haven't encountered any slow connections yet. I'm really impress and happy with this router. It was somewhat easy to install. The instructions are not 100% clear but easy to figure out after a few minutes. I like the feature where I can see how many devices are connected to my network, thus ensuring no one is tapping into my wireless. Also, like that it has a power button so I can turn it off when I'm not home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Wireless Router - Easy Setup! I received this router in very quickly. Right out of the box, it was very easy to assemble and set up. I merely disconnected my old router, connected the WRT1220AC by following the quick setup instructions included, and was online within minutes. The LinkSys "Smart WiFi" app worked instantly after downloading. Using this app on my iPad or laptop, I can monitor my network and even control access to guest users remotely. The router has been in use for almost a week now and have had zero problems. Over all, I give the WRT1200AC a TEN rating. I have a larger, more powerful wireless range, two bands to choose from and very easy to use management apps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall please I purchased this unit as a factory refurb from Amazon. After receiving what I thought was a DOA unit (wouldn't fully boot) I decided to try a hard reset (holding down reset button while powering on) which brought it fully to life and haven't had a moment's trouble since. This unit completely cleared up local network streaming issues I was having using my ISP provided modem/router. The throughput of the gigabit ports and 5GHz wireless really make a difference when streaming locally. Also cleared up issues with throughput/signal I was having in the master bedroom of my house. Would definitely (and will) buy Linksys products again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Freedom AC router to tweak the firmware on! This WRT didn't really show much of a difference to stand out on compared to the EA Smart Wi-Fi router I have tried before this. It did however, give me the freedom to upload, build and tweak firmware how I would like the security and performance to be in the router I am using. Pro: The initial factory setup is just awesome, giving me the option to skip the automatic setup if I wanted. Con: If I am expecting an auto-update feature in the router, I expect the factory firmware on the support site to also be updated to the latest (or close enough) to the bug/vulnerability fixes going on around other routers firmware.
