How to configure port triggering on the Linksys Gigabit VPN Routers, LRT214 and LRT224

Some Internet applications use alternate ports to communicate between the server and LAN host.  Port Triggering opens a port range for services which use alternate ports to communicate between the server and LAN host.  The device will forward the incoming packets to the assigned LAN host.

Follow the instructions below on how to configure port triggering on your Linksys Gigabit VPN Routers.
 
Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page.  To learn how, click here.
 
Step 2:
Click the Configuration tab on the header.


 
Step 3:
Click Setup > Forwarding in the navigation tree on the left side.
 

Step 4:
On the Application Name field, enter the name of the application you want to trigger.   
 

Step 5:
Enter the starting and ending port numbers on the Trigger Port Range and Incoming Port Range.

NOTE:  Some games and services have specific ports needed to be triggered on the router.  It is recommended to verify with them what these ports are.
 

Step 6:
Click Add to list.


QUICK TIP:  You can Delete or Update an entry on the list.  Up to 30 applications are supported for port triggering.

Step 7:
Click  at the bottom of the page to finish the configuration.
