Setting up the Linksys RE7000 using WPS

The Linksys RE7000 Max-Stream™ AC1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender can be set up using Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS).  This article will show you the steps on how to do so.
 
Step 1:
Plug the Linksys RE7000 into a wall outlet that is close to your router.
 
NOTE:  Wait for the Light Emitting Diode (LED) to change to amber.  To learn more about this device’s LED behavior, click here.
 
Step 2:
Press the WPS button on your wireless router.
 
Step 3:
Press the WPS User-added image button on the side panel of your Linksys RE7000.
 
NOTE:  The WPS button will light up and the indicator LED on the front of the range extender will blink green.

 
Step 4:
Wait for the front LED to turn solid green to indicate that the connection is successful.
 
Step 5:
To extend your 5 GHz network, repeat Steps 2-4.

 
Your Linksys RE7000 is now set up using WPS.  Also, you can access the Linksys RE7000’s web-based setup page in four (4) different ways:
 
NOTE:  You must be connected to the SSID of the Linksys RE7000.      
  • Enter “http://RE7000-xxx” for Windows® users, where xxx are the last three (3) characters of the Linksys RE7000’s MAC Address.  The MAC Address is located at the back label of the device.
NOTE:  If you changed your Linksys RE7000 name, then you will need to use the custom name (eg. http://MyAP). 
  • Enter “http://RE7000-xxx.local” for Mac® users, where xxx are the last three (3) characters of the Linksys RE7000’s MAC Address.  The MAC Address is located at the back label of the device. 
NOTE:  If you changed your Linksys RE7000 name, then you will need to use the custom name (eg. http://MyAP.local).
  • Enter the Linksys RE7000’s IP Address.​
NOTE:  If the Linksys RE7000 does not detect a DHCP server, the default IP Address is 192.168.1.1 otherwise you will need to look up your range extender’s IP Address in the DHCP Client Table.  To know how to do this using a Linksys Wi-Fi Router, click here.  If you are using a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, click here.
 
IMPORTANT:  When prompted for a username and password, leave the username blank and enter "admin" in the password field then press [Enter] to gain access to the range extender's web-based setup page.  For more information, click
