Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID AT ALL COST I own 8 nodes, purchased over the course of 2 years. These things are an absolute pile. The app is horrendous, and the nodes don't work. Often nodes drop and disconnect, often multiple times per hour. Other times nodes disconnect but the light on top stays blue (as if it's connected) though in the app it says the node is offline, the node then doesn't work until you restart it manually. When you have 8 nodes and 7 of them randomly disconnect but lie to you about it, it becomes incredibly frustrating. Save yourself the headache AVOID THESE AT ALL COST. Run a Ethernet cable and call it a day way more cost effective way way less frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near Flawless System When the Velop system came out a few years ago it was playing catch up with other mesh systems, but that has change. The App has grown by leaps and bounds and the team at Linksys have been absolutely crushing it with bug fixes and updates. With the rollout of Wifi6 capabilities the Velop system has become a leader in home mesh networking systems. I have no major gripes with them system except the fact that I very much wish the power cord inputs would be swapped to USB C - its a silly nit to pick at but hey its 2020 and nearly 2021 and with a device that is absolutely future proof for the next 5 years I really wish it had more modern connections for power.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Hardware, Firmware could be better I like the feature set, 3 access points, WiFi 6, WPA3, tripe band But the setup by phone and the basically required use of an online account for mesh wifi is disappointing. I want control without remote access for security. The firmware should be capable of setting up a mesh network without ever connecting to a remote server, and when I hook them up with a parent and 2 child node configuration I should be able to see the two child nodes in the network. As it is now I've got them in bridge mode but if I want to change setting on the nodes resetting them is basically the easiest way to do it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, poor execution. I bought this 5 months ago and have had nothing but poor performance. The nodes consistently indicate that they are offline by producing a red LED indicator. All devices connected via WiFi give me messages indicating that my network is not connected to the internet even though everything connected via ethernet are functioning as expected. I have swapped the 3 access points around, giving each of them a chance as a parent node, yet my issues persist. I have set the system up as new countless times, yet my issues persist. I always have the child nodes connected to the parent node via ethernet, yet my issues persist. I have had support provide me with new, unreleased firmware updates, yet my issues persist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The MX12600 is the Most Stable Velop Upgrade Yet! The MX12600 is easy to setup and out performs the previous generation Velpo Systems I have used. The WiFi range from these nodes is incredible and covers far beyond my property line. All (25) of my devices connected flawlessly to the network without a hitch. The network is stable and speeds are consistent. SETUP Setup was straight forward and easy to follow using the Linksys Smart WiFi App. I plugged one node in at a time, followed the instructions and done! The nodes connected within the timeframe the app stated and I had no issues during the initial setup. I changed the WiFi name to my previous SSID and all of my (25) devices connected fine. ALTERANTE SETUP SUGGESTION Initially, I connected the MX12600 mesh nodes to my MR9600 mesh router, because they are both part of the Velop family. But I had less than favorable results. I called Linksys Customer Service with my issues and they explained that the issues I had were caused from the MR9600 no being fully compatible, being it was a Dual-Band router and the MX12600’s were Tri-Band. They explained that, if I was to use the MR9600 as a child node, instead of the home node, I might have better results. So, If you choose to incorporate the MR9600, use it as a child node only. I chose to take the MR9600 completely out of the setup and not incorporate into my setup. Using only the MX12600, all of my issues subsided. OBSERVATION The MX12600 has been connected in my home for about a week and I am very happy with the results. I don’t currently have any WiFi 6 devices to test, but all of my older devices are solidly connected. Speed tests I have run are consistent and stable. And, copying files to my NAS over the network have never been faster. Everything is working perfectly and I have no issues. I look forward to testing this with a WiFi 6 device as soon as I can. It’s the perfect upgrade and option for future proofing my home.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute trash Here’s the problem. My connected devices don’t connect to the nearest node, they connect to the one farthest away, therefore limiting speed. It makes no sense. As I type this, I’m 10 feet from my upstairs node (I live in a tri level with 1 node per floor, the middle floor has my modem/router) but connected to the basement node. I just moved and lost the box/receipt and cannot return. I feel like I wasted $500. Should have gone with Eero Pro 6, but bought this kit because Eero was sold out everywhere. Bad decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy Setup Just got these and they were so easy to setup. Once you have the app downloaded from your app store, you power up and commect the first node to your router. Then use the app to locate the SSID of your wireless network, enter the credentials and your in. Then its a matter of placing the ither nodes amd letting the app do the work. Took maybe 20 minutes total, including the time it took for the app the configure nodes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good coverage, but difficult set up I received this new version of the Velop tri-band (Wifi 6) to test, and am comparing it to my prior Velop tri-band (Wifi AC) set up. First impression: Jeez, the nodes are a LOT larger than the prior generation. The 4 ethernet ports is fantastic, and may mean I can get rid of a powered ethernet switch I use for a few of my hardwired devices. However, I miss the old cable management that was built into the old nodes which hid the power and ethernet plugs. Set up: I was sadly disappointed for the first time with a Velop device. I followed the in-app instructions to replace my old parent node with a new one (essentially you reset all of the old ones, and start a new network with the same name and password). Unfortunately, the process was not smooth. The phone and app could not identify the node to be set up despite multiple repeated tries over an hour or two. Finally, the first node set up, and functioned well. The second node took about 4 tries to connect and set up, and also functioned well. I waited about a day, and the third node set up immediately on the first try, without issue. Coverage: I have a 2 story house with a basement, and on just 1 node, the coverage was at least adequate everywhere. With 3 nodes, I have no issue with strong signal throughout. I may consider putting one of my prior generation Velop nodes in the basement to ensure good coverage. Speed: I currently have 44 (!) devices connected. I was able to get the maximum rated speeds via wifi, which is better than on my old mesh set up. Even with a computer streaming an HD video, I was still able to get 100-110 Mbps, which is also better than with my old network. Unfortunately, I do not yet have any Wifi 6 devices to test that aspect of the technology and speeds. Bottom line: I don't know if the set up issues were due to the phone app or the hardware, but once up and running, the mesh network is stable, fast, and handles a large number of connected devices flawlessly. Hopefully my issues were a fluke. I will tentatively recommend the newest Linksys Velop tri-band mesh network.
