HARDWARE INFORMATION
What is the Linksys E1500?The Linksys E1500 is a router with four ethernet ports that allows you to share resources such as computers, printers, and files. The router supports various security features such as SPI Firewall to help protect your data and your privacy while you are online.
What are the default IP address, username, and password of the router's web browser?The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. The username and the password are both "admin".
How do I reset the router to factory defaults?There are two ways to reset the router to its factory defaults. 
 
Hardware Reset: Press and hold the Reset button located at the bottom panel for about 5 seconds then release.

Software Reset: Log in to the web browser, go to Administration  > Factory Defaults then, click the Restore Factory Defaults button.
What is the warranty period of the router?The warranty period is dependent on the country of purchase.
How do I reboot the router?You can power OFF the router first, then power it back ON. You can also click the Reboot button under Setup > Basic Setup on the router's web browser.
Does the router support Remote Management?Yes.
Is there an option to mount the router on the wall?No. It is recommended to place your router on the top of your desk.

SECURITY SUPPORTED
What is the default WiFi name of the router?The default WiFi name is LinksysXXXXX (where XXXXX is the last five digits of the router’s serial number, which is found at the bottom of the router.
What security modes does the router support?The router supports the following wireless security options: WPA2â„¢/WPAâ„¢ Mixed Mode, WPA2 Personal, WPA Personal, WPA2/WPA Enterprise Mixed Mode, WPA2 Enterprise, WPA Enterprise, WEP, and RADIUS.
Does the router allow VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP or PPTP protocols as pass-through?Yes. The router supports VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP protocols as pass-through.
Does the router support Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall?Yes.
What is a Web Filter?The Web Filter feature can filter Javaâ„¢, ActiveX, cookies, and proxy applications in the network.
What can I do in case I forgot my router password?In case you forget your router password, you will need to reset the router to factory settings. This will erase all the configuration settings on your router including the router password.
What can I do in case I forgot my WiFi password?You may check on the WiFi password on the router's web browser.

FIRMWARE UPGRADE
How do I upgrade the router's firmware?Follow these steps to upgrade the router's firmware.
 
1. Log in to your router’s web browser.
 
2. Go to Administration and select Firmware Upgrade.
 
3. Select the file to upgrade by using the Choose File button.
 
4. Click Start to Upgrade. 
 
Do NOT reset or power cycle the router until the upgrade is complete.

What DDNS providers does the router support?The router supports DynDNS.org.
How many internet connection types does the router support?The router supports six internet connection types:

Does the router support wireless Quality of Service (QoS) and Internet Access Priority QoS?Yes.
Does the router support transmission of the log information to a log server?No, the router does not transmit log information to a log server.
Will the router lose the settings I have customized whenever I update the firmware?Yes. Before upgrading your router's firmware, write down all your customized settings and once the firmware upgrade is done, you will be able to re-enter your configuration settings.
What is MAC Address Clone?

A Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique identifier pre-assigned to the network adapter of the computer. This is used by most cable internet service providers (ISPs) for authentication so subscribers can establish an internet connection.
 
To set up your router to work with your ISP, you have to enable the MAC Address Clone feature on the router. This will allow your ISP to recognize the router as the computer with the registered MAC address.

What is Diagnostics and what is it for?The Diagnostics (Ping Test and Traceroute Test) option allows you to check the connection of your network devices, including connection to the internet.
What is Port Forwarding?Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network, such as web servers, FTP servers, email servers, or other specialized internet applications.
What is Port Triggering?Port triggering allows the router to watch outgoing data for specific port numbers. You can check your software application to find out the ports you need for this application. You can set up to 10 port triggering entries.
What is a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and what is it for?DMZ allows a local user to be exposed to the internet for use of a special-purpose service, such as internet gaming and videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one computer.
What network standards does the router support? The router supports 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n.
Does the router support Guest Access and Parental Controls?Yes, you can set up Guest and Parental Control on the router.
Does the router support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)?Yes. The router supports SNMP. However, you need to install a separate software on your computer for monitoring the port traffic. SNMP is an internet-standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks.
