What is the Linksys XAC1900?The Linksys XAC1900 brings the next-generation WiFi speed to all your devices. It comes with a Power Modem that you can exclusively use as a modem and power adapter for the XAC1900.
Featuring USB 3.0 and 2.0, and four ethernet gigabit ports along with the latest Wireless-AC technology, the Linksys XAC1900 is optimized to support all wired and WiFi devices. Leveraging dual-bands with up to N600 Mbps + AC1300 Mbps, data traffic can flow quickly and with minimal buffering — meaning gaming, media streaming, and general internet activities can occur simultaneously with no interruptions. 
What are the requirements in setting up the Linksys XAC1900?Listed below are the requirements for the Linksys XAC1900.

The operating system requirements are only for the USB Printer utility.
How do I set up the Linksys XAC1900?The Linksys XAC1900 comes bundled with a Power Modem.
If you have a DSL connection with PPPoE configuration, in order to start the Smart Setup, you must enter “” or “” since you will not be automatically redirected to the Smart Setup wizard. Also, the CD included in the packaging does not contain any setup software. It only contains documentation.
Where can I see the default WiFi name (SSID) and passphrase of the Linksys XAC1900?The default WiFi name and passphrase can be located at the bottom of the Linksys XAC1900. You may also go to the page and then click the Wireless Tool. The WiFi name and passphrase are in the Network name (SSID) and Password section. 
Will I be able to run the setup on a hardwired computer even though my WiFi adapter is disabled? Yes, you will be able to run the setup on a hardwired computer even though the WiFi adapter is disabled. Just connect the Modem Router to the computer using an ethernet cable and start the Smart Setup.
Can I change the default WiFi settings during Smart Setup? Yes. When you run the Smart Setup, the wizard will automatically show system-generated settings for you. Moreover, it will also give you the option to modify the settings to your liking.  Ensure to write all information down before proceeding with the setup.
I have reset the Linksys XAC1900 and now I can’t launch the Smart Setup. What can I do? You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
Enter “” or “” in a web browser.

If your computer has a static IP address, make sure it has valid DNS numbers. If not, set the computer to obtain an IP address automatically. Retry the Smart Setup then, if needed, reassign a static IP address back to the computer.
Does the Linksys XAC1900 support simultaneous dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)? Yes. The Linksys XAC1900 supports simultaneous dual-band.
What USB standards does the Linksys XAC1900 support and what are their speed limits? The USB port supports 2.0 and 3.0. The USB 3.0 speed limit can reach up to 5 Gbps.
Can I connect a USB hub to the USB port on the Linksys XAC1900 to use multiple devices? No. You cannot connect a USB hub to the USB port of your Linksys XAC1900.
What is 802.11ac and what kind of speeds does it support? The 802.11ac technology works on the 5 GHz band. The Linksys XAC1900 can have a WiFi speed of up to 1300 Mbps when matched with an 802.11ac adapter.
What is the default IP address, Username and Password of the Linksys XAC1900? The default IP address is and admin is the default Password. You can leave the Username blank.
Which WiFi band is used to achieve a speed of up to 1300 Mbps? The 5 GHz band is used to achieve a speed of up to 1300 Mbps.
What is the media server? It allows DLNA®-certified devices including digital media players, gaming consoles, and digital picture frames to access video, music, and pictures that are stored on a USB hard drive that is connected to the Linksys XAC1900.
How can I reset the Linksys XAC1900 to factory defaults? There are two ways to reset the Linksys XAC1900 to factory defaults:

Hardware Reset – Press and hold the Reset button on the back panel of your router for about 10 seconds then release. 
Software Reset – Log in to your Linksys cloud account. Under Router Settings, click Troubleshooting > Diagnostics. Click Reset under Factory reset.
Where can I find the router’s serial number? The serial number is located at the bottom of your router. You may also view it through the page. Click Troubleshooting > Status > Report.
Does the Linksys XAC1900 come with a power adapter? Yes, the Power Modem is a modem + integrated power adapter. However, it does not come with a standard power adapter.
Can I use another power modem with the Linksys XAC1900? No, the Power Modem that came bundled is the ONLY power modem that is supported by the Linksys XAC1900.
How can I reboot or reset the Power Modem? To reboot, press and hold the Reset button for 1 second then release. To reset, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 5 seconds. 
Can I use an RJ45 cable to connect to the Power Modem?Yes, the DSL port on the Power Modem is compatible with both RJ11 and RJ45 cables. You can connect the Power Modem to the RJ45 port of your other networking devices.
What indicator lights does the Linksys XAC1900 have and what do they mean? The Linksys XAC1900 has Power/WPS, Ethernet, and Internet lights.

How many WiFi security modes does the Linksys XAC1900 support?The router supports seven WiFi security options: WPA2™/WPA™ Mixed Personal, WPA2 Personal, WPA Personal, WPA2/WPA Mixed Enterprise, WPA2 Enterprise, WPA Enterprise, and WEP.
Does the Linksys XAC1900 allow VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP protocols to pass-through the router?Yes. The Linksys XAC1900 allows VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP protocols to pass-through the Modem Router.
Does the Linksys XAC1900 support SPI firewall?Yes. The Linksys XAC1900 supports SPI firewall.
Does the Linksys XAC1900 offer a Filter IDENT that blocks specific internet data types? Yes, this feature keeps port 113 from being scanned by devices outside of your local network.
What is the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and what is it used for? The DMZ screen allows one local user to be exposed to the internet for use of a special-purpose service such as internet gaming and videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one computer. Port Forwarding is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to open.
What steps do I do if I experience slow download speed? If multiple wired and WiFi devices experience internet speed issues, try contacting your ISP for problem isolation.

How do I upgrade the firmware on the Linksys XAC1900?Log in to your Linksys cloud account. Go to Connectivity and, under the Router Firmware Update section, check the Automatic checkbox. This will automatically upgrade the Linksys XAC1900 if there is a new firmware available. You may also click the Check for Updates button to check if there is a new firmware available.

If you wish to
upgrade the Linksys XAC1900 manually, you can click the Choose File button.
How do I upgrade the firmware on the Power Modem?Log in to your Linksys cloud account. Go to Connectivity and, under the Power Modem Firmware Update section, click Choose File
What DDNS providers does the Linksys XAC1900 support? The Linksys XAC1900 supports and providers.
How many connection types does the Linksys XAC1900 support? The router supports six internet connection types: Automatic Configuration - DHCP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, and Bridge Mode.
What is MAC Address Clone and what is it used for? Some ISP will require you to register your computer's MAC address in order to access the internet. If you do not wish to register the MAC addresses of multiple computers with your ISP, you may assign the MAC address that is already registered to the router using the MAC Address Clone feature. 
When would a user want to select Bridge Mode for an internet connection type? Select Bridge Mode if a user purchases multiple internet IP addresses from their ISP and wants those IP addresses to pass onto devices behind the router.
Can I turn OFF the status lights on the router? Yes. Log in to your Linksys cloud account. Go to Connectivity and, under the Basic tab, turn the Port Lights OFF.
IMPORTANT: This option will ONLY turn OFF the lights of the ethernet ports at the back.
What is Port Forwarding? Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network such as web servers, FTP servers, e-mail servers, or other specialized internet applications.
What is Port Triggering? Port Triggering will open ports based on the incoming port specified. Check with your software application to find out what is necessary to enter in these fields. Note that Port Triggering is different from Port Forwarding.
What is a Guest network? The Guest network is a feature of the Linksys Smart WiFi and Linksys WiFi Routers that creates a separate network for guests. This secured network provides internet access to WiFi devices for your guests. The Guest network SSID is the same as the WiFi name (SSID) however, followed by a -Guest suffix.  It is a totally different network with a different password from the network which means devices connected to the guest network will NOT be able to share files and printers connected to the main network.
Can I change the Guest network password? Yes. To change the password, follow the steps below:
1. Log in to your Linksys cloud account then click the Guest Access tool.

2. Click Edit.

3. Enter a new password in the Guest network password field. Then, click Ok.
Can I print a shared file on my computer while connected to the Guest network? No. The Guest network is a separate network that ONLY provides internet access to WiFi devices. The router limits communication with other computers. It has a different password from the main network and does not allow access to files or printers within the main network.
What is UPnP®? Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) allows Windows to automatically configure the router for various internet applications, such as gaming and videoconferencing
What is Cut Through Forwarding and does the Linksys XAC1900 support this feature? Cut Through Forwarding increases the router’s performance through bypassing protocols that add extra overhead to router processing (such as packet level inspections, sorting, filtering, and queuing).
Enabling the Cut Through Forwarding feature will only apply to devices that are NOT part of any Parental Controls or Media Prioritization policies since those devices need to be packet inspected. When disabled, there is no performance enhancement and all clients go through the extra router processing overhead.

TIP: This feature is enabled by default. Disabling this option may improve compatibility with other WiFi devices and services. If you want to disable it, log in to your Linksys cloud account. Go to Connectivity > Administration.  Under the Cut Through Forwarding section, uncheck the Enable checkbox.
How do I close an account? Closing the account means erasing/deleting an email address that has a Linksys cloud account associated with it. To do this, go to the My Account section then click Close account
This option will only appear when you are signed in with your Linksys cloud account.
What will happen if is down but I still have internet connection? When is down but the internet is up, a new message will appear prompting customer to log in using your Router admin password.
Can I change the IP address of my router to which is the IP scheme used by the Guest network?Yes. After applying the new IP address, the Guest network IP scheme will automatically change to prevent conflict. You may also change your router's IP address through

Is it possible to back up and restore settings on the Linksys XAC1900?Yes. To back up the router configurations, access your Linksys cloud account. Under Router Settings, click Troubleshooting > Diagnostics > Backup. The new window will prompt you to save your configuration file (.cfg). Click Save then select your preferred location. Click Save again and wait until the backup process is completed.

To restore the router configurations, access your Linksys cloud account. Under Router Settings, click Troubleshooting > Diagnostics > Restore > Choose File. On the new window that appears, locate and select your configuration file (.cfg).  Click Save. Click Start to Restore to begin the restoration process. On the Important pop-up, click Yes. On the Router Reboot pop-up, click OK. Wait for the restoration process to finish.
When I log in to the router to view the Report, the Power Modem section is blank. Why?The Power Modem section in the Linksys Smart WiFi Report will only display information if the Power Modem is currently being used as the DSL modem with the Linksys XAC1900 router. 
TIP: To get to the Report section, access the page then click Troubleshooting > Status > Report.
Can I make adjustments or changes to the Power Modem?Yes, you can do this by accessing the page, then clicking on Connectivity > Power Modem.
Does the Power Modem have a web interface to configure the DSL settings?No. To configure the DSL settings, you must log in to the router’s page and then click on Connectivity > Power Modem. Your DSL settings can be obtained by contacting your internet service provider (ISP) if you need to make any manual entries. Otherwise, these settings are automatically added during setup.
