Overview of the Monitor settings of the Linksys Managed Switch for Business

To display the Monitor settings of the Linksys Managed Switch for Business, follow the steps below:
 
Step 1:
Access the web interface of your switch. For instructions, click
here.

Step 2:
Hover on Monitor icon on the sidebar on the left.

Dashboard
Realtime Meters
Statistics
RMON
MAC Address Table
SFP Module Information

Dashboard

Click on the icon located at the upper-left corner of the web interface to display the virtual port display. Now you can see which ports are being used and the current connection status. This is available throughout any menu section. Click the Refresh button to update the display and/or summary.
 
Realtime Meters

In the Realtime Meters section, you can view the current load for the CPU and Memory of the switch.
 
Statistics
 
  • L2: Displays Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)-related packet counters on each port.
  • L3: Displays STP-related packet counters on each port.
  • 802.1X Security
  • Port
  • RMON
  • IDIndicates the specific port for which RMON statistics are displayed.
  • Data SourceDisplays the data source from the port.
  • Drop EventsDisplays the number of dropped events that have occurred on the port.
  • OctetsDisplays the number of octets received on the port.
  • PktsDisplays the number of packets received on the port.
  • Broadcast PktsDisplays the number of good broadcast packets received on the port. This number does not include Multicast packets.
  • Multicast PktsDisplays the number of good Multicast packets received on the port.
  • Over Size PktsDisplays the number of oversized packets (over 1518 octets) received on the port.
  • CRC & Align ErrorsDisplays the number of CRC and Align errors that have occurred on the port.
  • Under Size PktsDisplays the number of undersized packets (less than 64 octets) received on the port.
  • FragmentsDisplays the number of fragments received on the port.
  • JabbersDisplays the total number of received packets that were longer than 1518 octets.
  • CollisionsDisplays the number of collisions received on the port.
  • Pkts of 64 OctetsDisplays the number of 64-byte frames received on the port.
  • Pkts of 65 to 127 OctetsDisplays the number of 65 to 127-byte packets received on the port.
  • Pkts of 128 to 255 OctetsDisplays the number of 128 to 255-byte packets received on the port.
  • Pkts of 256 to 511 OctetsDisplays the number of 256 to 511-byte packets received on the port.
  • Pkts of 512 to 1023 Octets: Displays the number of 512 to 1023-byte packets received on the port.
  • Pkts of 1024 to 1518 OctetsDisplays the number of 1024 to 1518-byte packets received on the port.

RMON

Remote Network Monitoring (RMON) is used for support monitoring and protocol analysis of LANs by enabling various network monitors and console systems to exchange network monitoring data through the switch.
 
  • Stat ListThe Stat List defines the RMON status on the switch. Click on the Add button to add to the list.
 
  • IndexEnter the entry number for the event.
  • Data SourceSelect the data source from the port.
  • OwnerEnter the switch that defined the event.
 
  • Event ListThe Event List defines RMON events on the switch. Click on the Add button to add to the list.
 
  • IndexEnter the entry number for event.
  • Event TypeSelect the event type.
  • LogThe event is a log entry.
  • SNMP TrapThe event is a trap.
  • Log & TrapThe event is both a log entry and a trap.
  • CommunityEnter the community to which the event belongs.
  • DescriptionDisplays the number of good broadcast packets received on the interface.
  • Last Time SentDisplays the time that the event occurred.
  • OwnerEnter the switch that defined the event.
 
  • Event Log TableYou can view specific event logs for the switch here. Choose an event log you wish to view from the drop-down list.
 
  • Alarm ListYou can configure network alarms to occur when a network problem is detected. Click on the Add button to add to the list.
 
  • IndexEnter the entry number for the Alarm List.
  • Sample StatSelect the port from which the alarm samples were taken.
  • Sample VariableSelect the variable of samples for the specified alarm sample.
  • Sample IntervalEnter the alarm interval time.
  • Sample TypeSelect the sampling method for the selected variable and comparing the value against the thresholds.
  • AbsoluteCompares the values with the thresholds at the end of the sampling interval.
  • DeltaSubtracts the last sampled value from the current value.
  • Rising ThresholdEnter the rising number that triggers the rising threshold alarm.
  • OwnerEnter the switch that defined the alarm.
  • Falling ThresholdEnter the falling number that triggers the falling threshold alarm.
  • Rising EventEnter the event number by the falling alarm are reported.
  • Falling EventEnter the event number by the falling alarms are reported.
 
  • History ListClick on the Add button to add to the History List.
 
  • IndexEnter the entry number for the History List.
  • Sample PortSelect the port from which the history samples were taken.
  • Bucket RequestedEnter the number of samples to be saved. The range is from 1 to 50.
  • IntervalEnter the time that samples are taken from the ports. The field range is from 1 to 3600.
  • OwnerEnter the RMON user that requested the RMON information. The range is from 0 to 32 characters.
 
 
  • History Log TableFrom here, you can view the History Index for history logs on the switch. Select a history index to view from the drop-down box.
 

MAC Address Table

In this section you can configure the Static or Dynamic MAC addresses and the Aging time.
 
Static MAC Address

Click on the Add button to add to the History List.
 
  • Index:  Displays the index for the static MAC address table.
  • Port:  Select the port where the MAC address entered in the previous field will be automatically forwarded.
  • VID:  Enter the VLAN ID on which the IGMP Snooping querier is administratively enabled and for which the VLAN exists in the VLAN database.
  • MAC Address:  Enter a unicast MAC address for which the switch has forwarding or filtering information.

Dynamic MAC Address

The switch will automatically learn the device's MAC address and store it to the dynamic MAC address table. Click on the Add button to add to the list.
 
  • Index:  Displays the index for the dynamic MAC address table.
  • Port:  Select the port to which the entry refers.
  • VID:  Displays the VLAN ID corresponding to the MAC address.
  • MAC Address:  Displays the MAC addresses that the switch learned from a specific port.

To search for a specific MAC address from the whole MAC address table, enter a specific MAC address and click Search.

MAC Aging Time

Set the aging time of the whole MAC address table here. The default value is 5 minutes. Enter the value in seconds and click Apply.

 

SFP Module Information

NOTE:  Settings will vary by model.

If you have SFP modules connected to the switch, the SFP Information screen will contain SFP Module Information.
