Configuring OpenVPN on your Android™ device

OpenVPN Connect is an application that lets you connect your Linksys Gigabit VPN Router to your Android™ device.  The instructions below will guide you on how to configure the Android device using OpenVPN.
 
Before configuring the Android device, make sure the following requirements are met:
  • Make sure the OpenVPN Connect app is downloaded and installed in your Android device.  To download, click here.
  • Make sure that the Linksys Gigabit VPN router is configured for OpenVPN.  For instructions, click here
Step 1:
Download and install the OpenVPN Connect app on your Android device.
 
 
Step 2:
Launch the OpenVPN Connect app, which will show the welcome page.  The next step is to import the .ovpn file into the app.
 
 
Step 3:
Open the function menu and select Import.
 
 
Step 4:
Assuming the .ovpn file is an a SD card, select Import Profile from SD card.
 
 
Step 5:
Select the .ovpn file.
 
 
Step 6:
When the profile is imported, the device is ready to make a VPN connection to the Linksys Gigabit VPN router.  Enter the username and password provided by the administrator, then tap the Connect button.  The OpenVPN tunnel will be established immediately.
 
 
If the OpenVPN tunnel is established successfully, you can see the connection stats and the Disconnect button.
 
 
To verify the connectivity between the Android device and the network:
 
  • Check if the Android phone can ping the Linksys Gigabit VPN router’s LAN IP and PC1.
  • Check if the Android phone can access other resources in the LAN side of Linksys Gigabit VPN router.
