Connecting a BEFVP41 to an Intel Net Structure 3110, 3120, 3130 VPN Gateway

This article will guide you in connecting your BEFVP41 to an Intel Net Structure 3110, 3120, 3130 VPN Gateway:

i. Setup
ii. Creating the site to site tunnel
iii. Creating the Security Association
iv. Router Configuration

 

Setup

Step 1:
Create a security profile called Linksys for easy reference.

NOTE: This example is using 3DES, HMAC MD5.

Step 2:
Set the Key lifetime to 182400 on the BEFVP41 and 2 days on the Net structure.

NOTE: By default, the Linksys is set at 3800 seconds, which equals 1 hour on the Intel Net structure.

Step 3:
Check Tunnel ESP mode and Perfect Forward Secrecy only.

NOTE: By default, they are already selected.

Step 4:
Enable the Keepalive and Timeout checkboxes.

 

Creating the site to site tunnel

Set the Key on the Linksys router to Pre-shared Key.




Creating the Security Association

This is creating a security association from the local IP (where the Intel NetStructure resides) to a remote location to their local subnet.

Apply the configuration changes.



Router Configuration


Step 1:
Access the gateway’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Enter “http://192.168.1.1/IPSecAdvance.htm” on the Address bar, and set the settings in the picture below. Click the Apply button and Continue button.

Step 3:
Enter “http://192.168.1.1/Filters.htm” on the Address bar and press [Enter].

Step 4:
In the Filter tab, enable IPSec Pass through, SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection), and PPTP pass through.

Step 5:
Disable the MTU
