1. What is the Linksys EA3500 N750 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router?


The Linksys EA3500 N750 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router is a high-speed simultaneous dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) Wireless-N router which lets you access the Internet via a wireless connection or through one (1) of its four (4) Ethernet ports.  This router can be used to share network resources to various wired and wireless devices such as laptops, mobile devices and gaming consoles.  The router’s USB port connects to a USB storage device where you can add storage space to your network or access your portable files.  Various security features help protect your data and your privacy while you are online.  For more information on features and specifications, click here.

NOTE:  For more wireless bandwidth, the router can create two (2) simultaneous yet separate Wireless-N networks, one using the 5 GHz radio frequency band and another using the 2.4 GHz band.
 

2. What default IP address, username and password are used to log in to the Linksys EA3500?


The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 and admin for the username and the password.
 

3. How can I reset the Linksys EA3500 to factory defaults?


There are two (2) ways to reset the Linksys EA3500 router to factory defaults.

  • Hardware Reset – Press and hold the Reset button located at the bottom of the router for about  15 seconds, then release.
  • Software Reset – Access the router's web-based setup page.  Go to Administration tab > Factory Defaults sub-tab, click the Restore Factory Defaults button.

5. How can I reboot the Linksys EA3500?


You can reboot your Linksys EA3500 by powering OFF the router, then powering it back ON.  The switch can be found at the back of the router.  You can also click the Reboot button under the Basic Setup tab on the router's web-based setup page.
 

6. Can I use a USB 2.0 hard drive on the USB port?


Yes, you can use the USB 2.0 hard drives on the USB port.

1. What is the default wireless network name (SSID)?


The default wireless network name (SSID) of the Linksys EA3500 contains the brand name of the router and the last six (6) digits of the device’s serial number found on the bottom of the router.  It is recommended to update the SSID of your router for security purposes.
 

2. How many security modes does the Linksys EA3500 support?


The router supports eight (8) security modes:

  • WPA2â„¢/WPAâ„¢ Mixed Mode
  • WPAâ„¢-Personal
  • WPA2â„¢-Personal

LEDs
 

1. What LEDs does the Linksys EA3500 have?


The lights found at the back of your router are the following:

  • Power and Wi-Fi Protected Setupâ„¢ (WPS) – Lights up green when the router is powered ON and ready for use.  The light flashes slowly if it is reset to its factory defaults, or during a firmware upgrade.  If the LED flashes green for two (2) minutes, there is an error during the Wi-Fi Protected Setupâ„¢ (WPS) process.  If the router has encountered an error, the LED light will blink rapidly.
     
  • Ethernet – When a device is connected to the router using an Ethernet cable, the Ethernet port lights will flash to indicate activity over the port.
     
  • Internet – When the router is connected to the cable or DSL modem, the Internet port lights will flash to indicate network activity over the port.

8. What is MAC Address Clone?


Some Internet Service Providers (ISP), especially Cable companies, require you to register the MAC address of the modem, router, or Ethernet adapter of the computer in order to access the Internet.  If you do not wish to re-register the MAC address currently registered with your ISP, you may assign the MAC address you have currently registered with your ISP to the router using the MAC Address Clone feature.


If you want to clone the MAC address of the computer that you are using to configure the router, click the Clone My MAC Address button in the router's web-based setup page.  The router will then automatically detect your computer’s MAC address, so you do NOT have to call your ISP to change the registered MAC address to the router’s MAC address.


NOTE:  It is recommended to use the computer registered with the ISP to enable the MAC Address Clone feature of the router.
 

9. What is Port Forwarding?


Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network, such as web servers, FTP servers, email servers, or other specialized Internet applications.

10. Which dynamic routing protocol is supported on the Linksys EA3500?


The Linksys EA3500 is compatible with RIP/RIPv2 dynamic routing protocol.
 

11. What is Port Triggering?


Port Triggering forwards port based on the specified incoming port.  You can set up to 10 port triggering entries.  Check with your software application to find out what is necessary to enter in these fields.

14. What is the UPnP used for?


Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) allows Windows-based computers to automatically configure the router for various Internet applications, such as gaming and videoconferencing.

15. Can I add or create a Game and an Application to the Priority list that are using the same port numbers?

No.  You can only add either but not both at the same time.

16. Can I schedule my router to reboot at a particular time?

No.


17. Does this support IPv6 RD for its internet connection?

Yes. It supports IPv6 RD and 6to4 tunneling.

 

TROUBLESHOOTING
 

1. Are you able to back up and restore settings on the Linksys EA3500?


Yes.  This feature is highly recommended if you want to make any configuration changes on the router and ensure a backup file.  This can help you prevent re-doing the settings you want on your Linksys router.  
 

2. What should I do if I am unable to access my router settings remotely?
 
  • Check that remote access is ON - You can go log in to your Linksys Cloud Account, select Connectivity Tool > click Administration and look under Remote Access.  If the Allow remote access to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools and Router is ticked, Remote Access is ON or enabled.
  • Make sure that the router is associated to a Linksys Cloud Account.
     

3. My Parental Controls blocks HTTPS but returns a blank page instead of redirecting to the Parental Controls screen.  Is this a normal behavior?

Yes, for HTTPS this is by design.  Some HTTP sites that redirect to HTTPS will produce a blank screen as well.
