The Linksys LAPAC1300CW-RTL AC1300 Cloud Managed In-Wall AP TAA Compliant is designed for rooms and is built to fit within a single gang outlet mounted into a wall.  The Linksys LAPAC1300CW-RTL offers WiFi and two additional ethernet ports for connectivity.  One of the ports provides a PoE+ connection to power a PoE device such as a VoIP phone while the other port can be used for an ethernet device requiring gigabit speeds.  To learn more about the product, click here.

SETUP AND INSTALLATION


1.  What is the Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0?

The Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0 is the cloud platform for remote management of the access point.  You can manage the access point through https://cloudmanager.linksys.com.

2.  How do I create a cloud manager account?

You can create your own account at https://cloudmanager.linksys.com.

3.  How do I create an organization and network on the Linksys Cloud Manager?

4.  What is an organization?

An organization is typically the name of your company or customer.  The Linksys Cloud Manager allows you to create an unlimited number of organizations so you can segment your network configurations however you choose.  This allows you to conveniently manage multiple organizations from a single account.  This will also allow you to add and remove members that have access to the entire organization or to specific networks only.  To learn more, click here.

5.  What settings can I configure on the Networks page?

6.  How do I add an access point to a network?

To add an access point to a network, you will need its serial number and MAC address.  For step-by-step instructions, click here.

7.  How do I rename a client?

Log in to the Linksys Cloud Manager and select a network.  Click on the Clients tab then select a client from the list.  On the client's page, click the ellipsis menu on the upper right side and click Rename.  Enter your preferred name in the field and click Confirm once you're done.

8.  How many networks and access points can I add to an organization?

An organization can have an unlimited number of networks and access points.

9.  How do I select a certain access point to use a specific SSID?

By default, the SSID will automatically be assigned to all access points in the network.  To learn how to create and assign an SSID, click here.

11.  How do I enable or disable the SSID broadcast on the access point?

12.  What are the default IP address and password of the access point?

If no DHCP server is detected, the default IP address is 192.168.1.252 and admin is the default password.

NOTE:   If the access point is on the latest Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0 firmware, you can also access it by using 10.0.0.1 (if it has not detected a DHCP server and a WiFi client is connected to its default SSID).


13.  How do I change the default local admin password of the access point?

To change the default admin password on the access point in a network, log in to the Linksys Cloud Manager and select a network, go to the Settings tab, and then click on Local Access Credentials.  For instructions, click here.

15.  I am replacing my access point.  Do I need to do anything else?

If you are replacing your access point, you need to delete it from the network via the Linksys Cloud Manager.  To learn more, click here.

1.  What WiFi security settings does the access point support?

The Linksys LAPAC1300CW-RTL supports WPA2™ and WPA2 Enterprise.  If you select WPA2 Enterprise, click on the Configure RADIUS link to set up the RADIUS settings.  To learn more, click here.

2.  What is the difference between Wi-Fi SSIDs and Wireless SSID Slots?

The Wi-Fi SSIDs page allows you to create SSIDs (think of this as a page for WiFi profiles).  You can also associate a splash page (captive portal) or set a bandwidth limit to an SSID.  A network can have unlimited SSIDs.

The Wireless SSID Slots page displays the SSIDs that are associated with an access point.  An access point can have up to eight Wireless SSIDs in a slot.

NOTE:  If you enable the splash page feature on a WiFi profile, an access point can have a maximum of two concurrent SSIDs with a splash page in the Wireless SSID Slots and up to six SSIDs without splash pages.

An access point can support up to eight Wireless SSID Slots.

A splash page is the same as a captive portal.  It allows you to block WiFi clients from accessing the network until user verification has been established.  To learn more, click here.

Local management is not supported and is mostly used only for diagnostics and to view a quick summary of the access point.  You can only manage the access point using the Linksys Cloud Manager.  For more information, click here.

14.  Can the access point send email notifications to members?

Yes, you can enable it to send notifications when an access point goes offline.  To learn more, click here.

16.  Can I supply power to the access point by connecting it to a PoE device?

Yes.  The access point is compatible with PoE/PoE+ devices and can pass power and data over an ethernet connection.  You can connect a PoE injector, PoE switch, or a 12V, 1A power adapter with a 5.5 mm/2.1 mm jack to the switch.

ADVANCED SETTINGS


1.  How do I configure the VLAN Tagging settings of the access point?

By default, the VLAN Tagging feature is disabled on the access point.  To enable it, log in to your Linksys Cloud Manager account and select a Network.  Go to Devices, click the ellipsis icon of a specific device and then select TCP/IP from the menu.  Click Edit to select or enter your settings and click Save once done.  If the access point is set to bridge mode, you can configure this feature in the Wi-Fi SSIDS > Settings > Addressing page of the SSID.

2.  How does the Client Isolation feature work?

The Client Isolation feature either prevents or permits WiFi clients from communicating to each other within the same SSID and radio.  To learn more, click here.

3.  Can I manually upgrade the firmware of the access point?

No, this is not supported.  Firmware upgrades for the device can only be done via the Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0.  To learn more, click here.

4.  Can I set a bandwidth speed limit on the access point?

Yes, you can set bandwidth limitations for SSIDs and clients.  To learn more, click here.

5.  What TCP or UDP ports are used by the access point in the Linksys Cloud Manager?

The access point will communicate with port TCP/8002.  In case port TCP/8002 is closed, the access point will change and use port TCP/443 instead.

NOTE:  Port TCP/443 is a fallback port.  If the access point uses it to connect to the Linksys Cloud Manager, it will not use port TCP/8002.  Port TCP/443 is the same as the ports used by HTTPS applications.  It should be open by default in most networks.

TROUBLESHOOTING
 

1.  Why is the access point showing that it is offline in the Linksys Cloud Manager and how do I fix this?

The access point will display that it is offline due to one of the following reasons:

 
  • The access point is down or is not connected to the internet.
  • The access point was reset. 

To fix these, follow the troubleshooting tips below:
 
  • Confirm the status of the access point by logging in locally and checking the IP address settings.  You can make changes as needed.
  • Try deleting the access point from the network.  To learn more, click here.  Once deleted, add the access point back into the Linksys Cloud Manager.   To learn how, click here.

2.  How do I delete an access point from a network?

3.  There are no SSIDs in the Wireless SSID Slots page to select for the access point.  What could be the problem?

To add an SSID to the Wireless SSID Slots page, an SSID must first exist.  You can go to the Wi-Fi SSIDs page to create it.  To learn more, click here.

4.  How do I change the settings of an SSID?

5.  How do I reset the access point to factory default settings?

To reset the device to factory default settings, press and hold the reset button for longer than 15 seconds or until you see that the indicator light is blinking red.

NOTE:  You can also delete the access point from the Linksys Cloud Manager and it will restore its settings.  To do this, go to Network > Devices > click on the ellipsis menu and click Delete.
